The most common resistance for an oven temperature sensor is 1080 ohm but select models can have different sensors with a different resistance range. If you are unsure, look for a tech sheet with the resistance values printed on the side. The tech sheet is sometimes at the back, or behind the front drawer but not all models will have a tech sheet.

Thank you. I had a repair professional look at range due to f9 code and not heating past 150… replaced the “board” but had same problem, taking more than 30 mins to get to 225 degrees. Saw this post and replaced temperature sensor. Working but having issue with temp of oven off by 40 degrees (stove says 350 but thermometer in oven says 310), should I replace something else or adjust the temp on stove? I’m not sure if something is going on. I already paid $ 385 foe service and part. Maybe I should get a new stove? Thank you

You're welcome. If heats up within a normal amount of time and the temperature is close, then it would be best to try to calibrate it. It can be good to take multiple temp readings as it can vary minute to minute. The calibration is pretty simple to do and we talk about it in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWm4laGIaa-qlck Most ovens can calibrate and shift the temperature +/- 30°F but some can adjust. When you calibrate the temperature, the oven will now think the temperature is 310 and will stay on longer until the temperature rises to the set amount.

If oven is overheating, disconnect power. If oven continues to overheat when the power is reapplied, replace EOC. Severe overheating may require the entire oven to be replaced should damage be extensive. 2. (F11, 12 & 13) Disconnect power, wait 30 seconds and reapply power. 3. Thanks for watching. If the temperature sensor is good in an isolated test, double check that it isn't shorted to the metal frame of the oven. You can test between one lead and the metal frame, if there's continuity, then replace the sensor. As well check the wires leading into the control board and make sure that it makes a good connection. If that doesn't help then it could be a faulty control board.

I'm having trouble getting much service info on my Siemens double wall oven. Purchased in '08-or '09. It's been great until recently. We had an instance or two when it overheated and had to shut off via the breaker switch because the control panel siezed up at the time. after switching the breaker back on it reset itself. Then, however not long after maybe a month or two give or take we started to notice the heat was about 50 degrees less than setting. So we just adjusted accordingly until it just wasn't anywhere near heating. Then we started using the bottom oven more often because it still worked ok. We have removed the heat sensor thermometer probeand tested it. Numbers were flashing irradically, we have ordered the replacement and are yet to install. As of right now we have an error code on screen and are unable to use the bottom oven in the meanwhile. Which we were using until we removed the sensor from the top... It sure would be nice to have more service tech info on the machine. Since it's far from brand new but still in very great shape. I dont consider it old or antiquated. I'd like more than wiring diagrams and would really like to know how to decipher codes and reset/program. 😀👍💪Your video was helpful to me at any rate and I appreciate that very much!

Thanks for watching. When it comes to service manuals, those are not always available but you can sometimes find it if you do enough searching. To clear the board, sometimes holding down "cancel" or "clock" for 10 seconds can initiate or reset the board. This varies between models so those may or may not work. When it comes to the wiring, it will vary but the basics remain the same. The temperature sensors will be connected directly to the control board. Each heating element is also connected to their own relay on the control board. If you have 4 heating elements, the control board will have 4 relays. Some models also have a fuse or high limit switch which is sometimes connected to the elements so that is something that would show up on a wiring diagram or a parts list. Hope this helps!

I have a Samsun range with double oven and both ovens are having the same problem. Oven reaches correct temp on the initial preheat but when the door is opened to insert or check the food the temperature doesn’t recover. It only heats to about 345 degrees. Is that a control panel issue.
@AmreSupply
@AmreSupply 10 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. If there are 2 temperature sensors and both ovens have the same identical problem, then it does lead to it being an issue with the oven control. Control boards are black boxes and are not easily tested, so in most cases if all other potential sources are eliminated, then it's best to install a new control board. We have a video showing how: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYO3mmeigd6ip9k

What are the chances that the temperature sensor is faulty even though my Frigidaire doesn't have an error code. I have tested the sensor, I get a reading of 1085 when tested alone but then no reading when testing the negative lead to the metal? Sound like the sensor? When I try to heat my oven it takes 30 mins to reach a temp of 177° I hear all the clicking and it switches back and forth between the elements.
@AmreSupply
@AmreSupply 8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. If the temperature sensor tests good in the resistance test, and when tested to ground, there's no reading then that means its likely good. It is best to check the make sure that the wire connections are secure, that there is no grease or anything that might prevent a good signal from passing through. As well clean any grease or a carbon buildup off of the sensor. As well it's best to check the heating elements to be sure that they are both working properly. It is possible that 1 out of the 2 have failed; kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2fWaKCXrsd7ors If not, then replace the sensor. If that still doesn't help then it might be a faulty relay inside of the control board. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYO3mmeigd6ip9k Hope this helps

You're welcome, we're just happy to help! Since the sensor is a thermistor or "thermal resistor" it will have resistance even at room temperature. If someone is referring to a different sort of switch or thermostat, then it will be on or off, or will have continuity or no continuity depending on the temperature. Older ovens will use a bulb which is a heat sensitive fluid which will expand and will have continuity at a specific temperature. These are binary and are either on or off.

Thanks for watching. Cleaning the oven sensor never hurts however It isn't the same as cleaning a flame sensor in a furnace. Furnace flame sensors or flame rods are very sensitive to a small amount of carbon buildup which can prevent the circuit from being completed which means the furnace will not run. For a oven sensor thermistor, a buildup of carbon will insulate which might just slightly shift the perceived temperature.

Thanks for watching. Sometimes a power surge can damage an element as well as the relay on the control board. Since you've replaced the heating element, and all of the other funciton work, then its an indicator that it might be an issue with the control board. You can do a few more tests just to be sure. Disconnect the element wires from the control board, and test the wires and the heating element together, it should have the same resistance as an isolated element test. If there is no resistance then the wires are likely faulty. If the wires and element are all good then the only other thing could be the control board. You can learn more here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYO3mmeigd6ip9k To find what control board you'll need, you can use this tool on our website: www.amresupply.com/lookup Hope this helps!

When I put one probe on each side of the sensor it does read correctly, but when I put one probe to the sensor and the other to the shiny surface of the oven my multimeter just says 1. Does this mean the sensor needs to be replaced?
@AmreSupply
@AmreSupply Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. It depends on your multimeter. Is that 1 ohm or is that 1 a default reading when there is no continuity? If there are no decimal points then it could be just a non continuity reading. Some multimeters will displace - - - - - -, or OL when there is no reading. If it is 0.1 ohm or 1 ohm then its possible that the sensor is shorted.

Hi there, so I tried this and it unfortunately did not fix my issue and I wondered if you could give any further suggestions. My problem is is that my oven takes forever to heat up, and when the preheat sound goes off saying its met the specificed temperature I've found it's not even close. For example, I'll set the oven to 375 degrees and after a bit the preheat sound goes off, but I've placed a gauge inside the oven that tells me the oven hasn't even reached 200 degrees. It'll take another half hour to get to temperature, and that's if I cover the elements on the stove as I've found the oven heat is escaping through the oven vent (that goes into the back right element). If I want to set the oven to 450 degrees it hardly reaches that temperature, and if it does I am waiting way too long. I've tested the temperature probe inside the oven and it reads approximately 1180 ohms so it seems like its within normal range. I tested the ground shortage through the frame and that didn't give any resistance either so I've ruled that out. Now something I found when unplugging the stove to do these tests is that the ground prong for the stove has corrosion on it due to the outlet cover being partially broken and allowing moisture to drip onto the ground plug when plugged in, is this something that could be causing an issue (apart from the obvious fire hazard that I have to contact my landlord about)?
@AmreSupply
@AmreSupply 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. A faulty ground connection isn't ideal but should create those issues. If there is moisture behind your range, check each connection between the temperature sensor, the wires and control board. If the connection isn't good or if there is corrosion then it would affect the resistance and the oven might misinterpret the temperature. As well double check that both of your heating elements are working. If you've check that then it could be a faulty control board.
