I thoroughly enjoyed this blog, because it’s not a highlights show but a view of what is is like to be a spectator/fan at the match and for us who can no longer to get to the matches it was great as it took me there to the atmosphere of the match. Great keep up the good work.

First league game I watched was Dover versus Folkestone at Crabble in 1952. I was a 7 year old lad, and had climbed a tree on the hill behind the stadium at the River end. First thing I saw was a Folkestone player in his yellow shirt attacking down the Dover right wing (Dover were at the town end), with a Dover player retreating in front of the Folkestone chap but doing so very closely, ready to tackle at any moment. And from that moment I was hooked! I attended most home games (I upgraded from the tree to actually paying for entrance, which was very cheap) until I was 18 in '64 and moved to Watford to study at college post-school. So there's a special place in my heart forthese derby matches, though I didn't see the one in this video.

Folkestone were the better side on the night and unlucky not to win. The sending off was key, though. Disappointingly, Dover showed little grace in their win, with players losing control at the end. I would expect sanctions against the club, if there is any justice.

@@nancyelliott3122 I’ll agree Folkestone shaded it particularly in the first half and showed more in the latter stages of the game. But I’m not sure I agree with the rest, the celebrations were very understandable

@@the_footballtourist Not true, At The Crabble, the game finished at the Folkestone supporters' end, where the Invicta players celebrated. At Cheriton Road, Dover players deliberately went to the Folkestone crowd at the end of the game to taunt them there.
