Over 300 kids at church camp flee Ruidoso fires

Monday started out full of excitement, as 300 kids arrived at Cook Canyon Camp east of Ruidoso, New Mexico. They would be spending the week at church camp in the mountains. Less than 12 hours later, the day ended with a very different kind of excitement as they were evacuated due to the incoming forest fire.

A school bus holds 71 kids max a Ford van holds 15 max Good for the Adults and the Police who helped these kids out I drive a School bus and I have enough trouble with them on a normal day I can`t imagine how hard it would be to keep them all calm when the flames and smoke are visible.

They do control burns that get out of control and the United States Forest Service don't admit it for months. They started the Hermit Peaks wildfires 2 years ago. They admitted that.

Lightning is the most common cause! Sometimes things are as they say they are! Also it's New Mexico! The weather changes quickly!

By the United State Forest Service! They have a department that is just called "Fire". They will say "Fire" will be at their meetings, that is what they call it. We have been trying for 2 years to have a meeting with the USFS here in Las Vegas, NM. They about burned Las Vegas 2 years ago part of Las Vegas was evacuated too. The United States Forest Service likes "Fire"
