It’s been a slow walk to not eating after 4 for me. I, at first, had hunger pangs so bad I could think of nothing else, so I decided I would drink sugar free cocoa, instead of eating. It really helped. But….Knowing that’s junk, I eased over to having hot tea and now I’ve had a few days of nothing. But I’m hanging in there, having an eating window of 8-4 (2 meals a day) and I will slowly move on to, once in a while, having one meal a day. But slowly easing into it has helped me. 👍🏼

I have a family tradition to eat dinner, I fast all morning at age 60, and have a first meal at 1pm then dinner at 5pm to 6pm. My girls will never agree to eat dinner at 4pm. Maybe when my daughters leave the nest, but my wife is stuck in her routine. We always fight over food and ingredients. I do appreciate this video, and I wish To try eTRE one day.

I do 16/8 intermittent at least 4 days a week, but even when I'm not doing that, most of the time I'm done eating by 5:30pm or so. I have noticed in the last couple of months, that if I eat anything late at night (usually because I didn't pay attention to my protein/fiber/fat intact during the day) it's usually in the wee hours of the next morning, and while I always eat something that is carb-less, I still don't feel as well or lose as much weight (normal 3/10s to 1/2 pound per intermittent day) as when I stop eating early and am not hungry until a few hours in my morning the next day. I'm 71 and my mind is sharper if I get to sleep by ten, am up by 5 or 6, and then have an intermittent day. I'm glad to hear there's a research-based reason why this works so well for me, weight-loss-wise.

I'm 62 and lost 30 since Sept by doing 16/8 or 18/6 and for me skipping breakfast except for a few cups of coffee. I try to eat the latest by 6pm if I can but weekends I do the early eating and stop by 4. With your help and videos, I realized that by eating too many meals during the day and eating too many carbs, I never gave my body a chance to use stored fat. I can't do Keto but did lower carbs and sugar a great deal and it helped a lot. I really thought my body just couldn't lose much but it did. ; )

Having breakfast around 8 am and second meal between 2 and 4 pm has made it easy to adjust without feeling too hungry at any given time. Have dropped 33 lbs since Nov.5. Plan to make it permanent and weigh whatever it leads to.

My questions is can I still have my LMNT hot chocolate drink with a TB of heavy cream in the evening and stay in a fasted state? This is the only ritual I would miss but I'm willing to give up the LMNT and/or heavy cream if that is kicking me out of a fasted state. You are such a gift to humankind!

Add in the HIIT training Dr. Keith did and you have most of the prescribed lifestyle for longevity. This makes sense in theory, but why do our bodies crave food at night - even if they're healthy low carb foods and how can we migigate that? THAT'S what's really important. We don't need to be told that it's not good to eat at night. We all know that. It's easy to fast in the morning. We need help not eating at night. It's more than habit. I've been on a paleo diet for years, have lost 50 pounds, and walk and exercise every day. I still need to lose 40 pounds, but I'm blocked by my nighttime food cravings. I can't sleep without a snack. I'm sure that I'm far from alone. How can we address the real challenge with evening fasting without essentially blaming and shaming us for not being strong enough?

It's been awhile since I posted anything here. I had another bout with cancer and it has spread to my bone and lungs, but miniscule in the lung. Still, I got low and gave up too soon as it had come back after I thought we had it whipped. Nope. So my attitude was, what's the use. I started eating sugar again after I'd been off for 2 years. Wrong thing to do. Medical science has made big strides in treating cancer and I'm coping now with it and treatment is working...again. So now, I have to get off refined sugar again and like any addiction, it's hard. I only gained 10lbs, but the weight isn't the real concern. It's the sugar. Have cut back a lot, but still not completely off it. Will let you know how it goes later. Right now I'm struggling

Fasting can cause hair loss if there was already an underlying mineral and vitamin deficiency or if done too aggressively (especially in women). Find out what vitamins you need for healthy hair and increase those through diet and some supplementation. B vitamins for sure, especially B1 (biotin). Make sure you up your protein intake and maybe slightly increase your eating window.
