As a 12 year old boy in Bavaria in the mid 50ties, we all looked forward to the annual military exercise of the US Army in our area. On their way back to their Garrison in Augsburg, they cleaned up their Jeeps in our village creek. We had already a dispatcher organizing this who could help to clean which vehicle. We always have been rewarded for our help with candy from the US soldiers. These have been the first sweets I have received in my life. Thank you still today to the US soldiers.

@@kimmogensen4888 US military fitness standards are far far better than they were 30 years ago. Each branch has varying degrees of how well they hold to them, but in the combat arms fields in the US they are extremely strict. People will see a admin command from a non deployable unit that is run like shit and assume that's what it's like in a combat arms platoon too. Where instead those dudes still get the shit beaten out of them for not preforming, and have double the enlistment standards to maintain.
