As a 12 year old boy in Bavaria in the mid 50ties, we all looked forward to the annual military exercise of the US Army in our area. On their way back to their Garrison in Augsburg, they cleaned up their Jeeps in our village creek. We had already a dispatcher organizing this who could help to clean which vehicle. We always have been rewarded for our help with candy from the US soldiers. These have been the first sweets I have received in my life. Thank you still today to the US soldiers.

@@kimmogensen4888 US military fitness standards are far far better than they were 30 years ago. Each branch has varying degrees of how well they hold to them, but in the combat arms fields in the US they are extremely strict. People will see a admin command from a non deployable unit that is run like shit and assume that's what it's like in a combat arms platoon too. Where instead those dudes still get the shit beaten out of them for not preforming, and have double the enlistment standards to maintain. Wow…23 yrs service and I rode in many a convoy. Just wondering WHY NOT ONE VEHICLE HAS ITS LIGHTS ON! If you’re in a convoy, as these vr’s are and NON-TACTICAL, U SUPPOSED TO HAVE YOUR LIGHTS ON! WTF 🇺🇸

I can always tell a battle hardened unit by the following distance of the trucks, as well as if their humvees are armored! Those guys who have been to war tend to keep a nice following distance. I guess since they are used to doing that same thing in a war zone. It's better to lose one truck to an IED than to lose multiple trucks all bcuz they are following too closely!

Following distances between vehicles are standard and briefed before any convoy hits the road.

Following distance is part of the convoy brief and is relevant to the area. They're not gonna have huge distances in Europe they're not trying to cause as much traffic as humanly possible. This is a admin movement, not a tactical movement.

Standard training exercises lol if they were truly going to work, there’s no way that they would allow civilians to be in the middle of their convoy… also missing are the mandatory tow trucks and weapons… no real armored vehicles either. Just a couple to conduct training with

I read a while ago that if a convoy has a military ambulance, it goes to war, if he doesn't have one, I only do exercises or move the weapon. During exercises, the medical part is provided by civil ambulances.
