Plants breathe oxygen for other metabolic functions. During the day photosynthesis cancel out what they breathe but in an atmosphere without oxygen they wouldn't last :/

Regarding realism: Mars' atmosphere is so thin that the steam/smoke from the steel mill would not rise like that. Instead it would immediately spread out a LOT and probably just look like a haze over the building, if it's visible at all. Edit: typo

Great thinking with the finger to raise the beam. Simple, but effective. As all engineering should be. If it ever makes it to PlayStation (since my laptop is just a step above potato), I may give it a go. I love designing vehicles. Especially with cool gizmos and gadgets to do fun things. Like making a hand, to become a roaming high-five machine!

Suddenly Science: Plants don't need oxygen, but produce it. What they need is carbon dioxide, which is what we exhale. Second Suddenly Science: Mar's atmosphere is over 95% Carbon Dioxide. While it's thin as a whole, and oxygen makes up only 0.146% percent of it, which are both their own host of problems, Mars' atmosphere does have the gasses need to grow plants.

1 Star; My watering can was not just dinged up, but all the water was spilled out. 1 Star; We got our oranges but the rover driver was obviously drunk, nearly ran us over multiple times. And I'm pretty sure he tried to "probe" me. 1 Star; We got our pillar but looked like it had been dragged the entire way 1 Star; Why isn't there a - button or at least a 0? @6:00 the oranges won't die becuse the lack of oxygen, they don't need oxygen to survive. The orange would simply freeze to solid due to atmosphere pressure and temperature difference. Haven't you seen Martian?
