Ive had a few disagreements of late with people online sayinh im going to cook the controller , basically i bought a 48v 750w tongaheng motor and bought a 52v battery for it. I even emailed tongsheng directtly to ask the question is it ok to put the 52v battery on this and their reply was absolutely yes. Even after that the people online are telling me your going to fry your motor , i said does anyone on here actually have experience of running a 52v battery on this 48v motor without firmware and no one replied 😅 So i presume thier all just copying what they have read.

You are right basically the reason people say you will over heat it If you run it at 48v at 750w for 1 minute the motor won’t over heat If you run the motor at 52v at 1000w for 1 minute it won’t over heat Run the motor at 36v at 500w for 2 weeks it will definitely over heat The reason 52v battery’s often creat more heat is not that they are much more powerful but they are normally in high ah battery’s making the ride distance longer making the motor work longer than it’s designed to as long as you keep an eye on it and don’t smash it for hours up hill you will be fine I run 48v motors at 52v all the time never had a problem

@48Volts thank you for your comment and I'm not doing massively long Mike's only 3 to 4 mile ones , I'm glad you have replied as it has really helped settle my mind with people talking about something they actually have no experience of. Bit like I read once the sky is red oh it must be red then if I've red it somewhere

I got a Voilamart 1000W wheel kit. The controller it came with draws 20A max. My 48v battery can handle 60A with a breeze. I want to be able to gain speed much faster at traffic lights. I've never been able to get the motor hot or even warm. Can i put a 1500W 60A controller on this 1000W wheel or is that risky? What's the best way to go in your opinion (without buying a new motor)? Thanks!

I have 52v 1000w motor and 48v battery and controller is 800w, I have problems, 1st my charger supply charge 48v battery to just 48v, not 54.6v.. 2nd my controller and wires heat up too much.. and 3rd my mileage drops and have not much power in my motor in starting position.. what should I do to fix these problems?? Kindly guide me

The controller won't recognise any voltage lower than its rated so it doesn't seem to work in reverse

If the controller is a dual voltage controller (say 48v/52v for example) you’ll be fine. However note that though these controllers may work work for the weaker battery (in this case the 48v) they actually are more optimized for the higher voltage battery, not the weaker one. So sticking a 48v battery on that controller will result in you only having about half the battery life, if not less. I know cos i bought a 36/48v controller for my bike once my original 36v controller died. So now instead of using a 36v battery on a dedicated 36v controller, i was using a 36v battery on a 36/48v controller. The controller prioritizes the 48v batteries. So now my lil 36v battery that worked perfectly on my old kit and gave me 4hours of ride time, now wasnt good enough and only gave me about an hour and 10 minutes of ride time. Even with me changing the low voltage cut off settings on the lcd display to buy me more time. In short. Always use the stronger battery on a dual volt controller. Not the weaker one. Yes. The weaker one will work. But it will work trash compared to the stronger one. Who wants only an hour of ride time when the battery is capable of doing four!

Yes 48v controllers have 60v c and a 52v battery charges to 58.6

48v to 52 v isnt overvolted thats just the max volts of 48 v battery fully charged mine is 52.4 v

Ok so before I blow my bike up I want to ask this. I have engwe m20 with 750w hub motor 1000w peak. If I upgrade my controller to 1500w will it blow my motor up or not? I'm in UK btw 😂
