10:03 The reason the growth receeds is due to the fact that recovery of spiritual sites typically sees the cleaning and restoration of its original state. It is to show respect to the spirits there, as well as to strengthen the connection they have to the area. Usually, it is also a sign of frequent visits from people that clean the site, meaning there are people putting care and time into the site actively. However, the show kind of circumvented that part. Although something that is cool and usually the first step in the restoration of these sites is cleansing of the evil spirits, which would take hold overgrown/destroyed sites due to the lack of activity and support given to the spirits there. Which they did to achieve the restoration of the site, basically it just skipped a cleaning montage, while I am okay with it it would also be cool to see how they clean things with bending. I just imagine you could just decide to pressure wash something you could with some water, and then air dry it with air bending. Also they 100% should be able to make it colder and hotter around them by speeding and slowing down the air around them, simulating heat and coolness.

Book 2 of Korra is so scuffed it made Mako *likeable* what a world we live in. Also, side note about 5:35 : Unlike Book 1, Books 2, 3, and 4 all were greenlit before Book 1 came out and therefore were even in production at the same time at one point. To be specific, Book 2's post-production, Book 3's production, and Book 4's pre-production went on simultaneously at one point. As to the *why* of this, there is conflicting accounts. Some sources say Book 2 got the green light and while it was being made and suffering delays Books 3 and 4 were ordered at the same time, others say they all were greenlit together, some suggest 2, 3, and 4 were greenlit together but Nick wanted them all to be standalone-styled stories unlike ATLA's overarching story.

Very much agreed on “Korra’s character leaping places we didn’t actually see her grow to.” One of the season’s biggest problems imo- Korra *has no arc*. She just improves her behavior very arbitrarily.
@tariqthomas90906 ай бұрын
Thats partly because Korra’s regression at the beginning of the season is BS anyway. I think Korra’s a great character, but it’s not because of this season at all.
@rosekafe70636 ай бұрын
@tariqthomas9090 eh, I don't feel korra had much development at all in season one either, at the end of the season korra decided to simply run into the problem just as before by going to the crowd of people and yelling that amon was a bloodbender, no forethought no plan. She ran into it just like before. And it ended up working and she unlocked her airbending with no use of the philosophy nor fighting moves of airbenders. She didnt have to work for it she got it just like everything else. And even when she lost she won and got her bending back and her avatar state. I don't think it's far fetched that she was cocky about her bending and abilities in season two since it all worked out. I don't think they regressed her character in the beginning of season 2 rather intensified her bad traits. Then in season three they just decided to change her character to be more likable with no progression or time. At least that's what I saw throughout the show. But I could be missing something.
@treebirdgames92006 ай бұрын
I always actually liked that Jinora was the one to help Korra enter the spirit realm. However not because of the setup for her, but for Tenzin. It felt more of a lesson for him, that he can't just be the perfect version of what his father wanted, and that he need isn't the only one able to help avatar. It helps build up more towards Tenzin understanding that he is his own person, while also just helping to give Jirona a little more credibility towards the "master" airbender title that shes givin later in the series. Tho i do agree it should have been hinted at sooner. I suspect that was more of a result of the way the seasons were written individually though.

The first show has him flying by the seat of his pants to master the basics in *one year.* Yet they do a good job of escalating the nuance as he ages into bigger issues. Imagine what they could do with the 40ish years he spends finding himself as a leader and father. The comics attempt this, but there's clearly plenty left unsaid about his life. 14:38 Nah, I’d say Aang meeting up and time-traveling with Roku are not the spirit world at all, just Avatar past life revisiting like the Wan episodes.

I personally didn't mind that they put the focus on Jinora in terms of the spirit world. It -could- _should_ have definitely been more organic (and the whole finale is just not it, in every way), but I liked that Tenzin's children finally get to play a significant role. Or one of them at least. Part of that might be because I have a soft spot for the "confident young girl with special powers" trope, but it's also because it doesn't instantly resolve Tenzin's problems. The context we get for Aang's family is just about the only thing in season 2 I actively like (maybe scheming Varric too). It feels very AtlA to see them as a real family with real family issues - that our heroes are as human as we knew them, with little flaws that can escalate into actual problems, like all the subtle emotional trauma in Aang's children. Resolving Tenzin's life-long imposter syndrome pretty much instantly with a "you're everything your father could have ever hoped for and more!" would have felt cheap.

is the concordia station thing about concordia being the goddess of peace and harmony or just some goose chase that wasted 10 minutes of my day thinking it had any meaning... now that I come to think of it yeah good bit

I like to think the world of Avatar is simply smaller in scale than ours when it comes to its continents. That’s why general travel time from one land to the other on the opposite side of the globe (supposedly) seems relatively quick. For all we know they could be pretty small land masses all close together, and on their version of “earth” the rest of the globe is just water or something.
