Overboard! (Shipwreckers! in North America) is a top-down adventure game, released by Psygnosis in October 1997.
The player controls a pirate ship, shown to be manned by three pirates in cutscenes. In gameplay, when the ship catches on fire the men jump overboard until the lifebar becomes empty.
The game is sometimes thought of as a strategy game, but it is primarily an adventure game. Overboard! also features a multiplayer mode for up to five players (requires the multitap adapter) in which the opponents compete to sink other players’ ships.

I'm not sure why but I always felt the artstyle of this game reminded me of Tanktics, even though the games weren't related at all except coming out within a year or two of each other.

I think it's the "tropical" setting, and they both have crazy contraptions.

I'm getting a "Invalid version of game" error in Win10 x64. Compatibility settings, dgVoodoo 2 or DxWnd didn't help. In VirtualBox (WinXP 32-bit), I get a "insufficient 3D acceleration hardware" error instead.

Back then, this was one of the few games (the only other being MechWarrior 2) where... right after the Intro finished playing, I'm back "outside" the game. As if it crashed right after the intro.
