I moved out of NJ in 2016 when they were just starting to tear down the rest of this place. Overbrook, the sanatorium on the hilltop, the jail annex...all gone. My childhood memories. I was always drawn to these buildings and so captivated by the stories behind every wall and the feeling of sadness everywhere. It's really a shame that none of these places could have been preserved at all. Didn't help that so much of the complex was vandalized, had copper stolen, and was rotting away with time. Tens of thousands died here. Some pretty dark corners of history in Northern NJ that you would never think of.

props on getting to drive around there, i tried going there and go stopped by the cops that basically told me to GTFO there if I don't want to get arrested for trespassing

I had a similar situation the last time I ever walked on the grounds back in about 2015. Police car flew up to me fast as heck as I was walking towards the reception building. I was honest with him and just told him I was "curious". The reward for my honesty was the same as you: GTFO or else! After that I stopped going inside because I realized I'd gotten away with trespassing way too many times and it was time stop lol crazy thing is that if I had arrived seconds later the cop may have seen me trying to get in.

Thats crazy, it looks like a city !! Would have thought it would be over run by homeless people and kids ! Looks like a great place to drop some acid and explore !!

@insulationking Thumbs up on the video. It would be nice if you could include something about this place in the description. For example, how long has it been abandoned or some history.
