I have obtained these two Newcombs over the last several years. The terracotta orange one is the model AVC-500 and the mustard yellow one is the model EVC-100. Both identical electronic wise (except the EVC-100 does not have a separate monitor switch).
Way overbuilt industrial tanks. And they perform just as well, too. You can tell these were meant for heavy duty usage.

I just recently bought two Newcomb record players from someone on Facebook marketplace for 20 dollars. They're both from the 1960's. One is a ED-10 and the other one is a ED-10C

@42:30 When I was in school. Most of the classroom cassette recorders were either EIKI or Califones. I don't think they had any newcombs.

Nice units! We had some of these in the library back in my school days. They sounded very good. And they are indeed built like tanks. Cheers! 🍻

The Mystery tape. It was already there before you! The vintage smell. The smell of old library books.

WOW, the last time I saw that orange-red one was when I was in high school back in 75 they were used in the NYC public school system. There was one in the music class and one in history class .

Besides being overbuilt tanks, these had to be classroom cassette recorders. Built to LAST!! But, were they built 🤔 in America 🇺🇸?? Your friend, Jeff!!

Huh, must not be the only one who likes 5 O’Clock World by The Vogues :). Sunny by Bobby Hebb & House Of The Rising Sun by The Animals as well. It seems like everything went down hill as soon as the 90’s came around, music wasn’t as good, cars became blobs, everything just became extremely boring and mundane after that. This is basically why I have a major affinity for things from the 80’s and up. People can for example, try to convince me until they are blue in the face that modern vehicles are better (anything newer really), don’t buy that and not convinced. Only reason why they got a bad wrap is because of laziness and negligence. Not conforming to society’s BS norms, never can and will.
