Just a tip from my engineering class. The percentage of battery refers to the current capacity and the voltage level. Voltage and current are proportionally related to each other. Charging the phone at 0% which by typical, 3.7V when depleted on li-ion batteries, can cause damage to battery it self, 5V charge to 3.7V charge will make your battery heat up, and can burn some of its physical parts, resulting on being unused parts, decreasing battery capacity. However, when the battery is fully charged, especially when the phone is on, phone still uses some energy from battery hence it's like 100% to 99% to 100%, that numerical value shows a discharge and charging process of battery which we can consider as part to be taken from charging cycle. If a battery has 365 charging cycle and it's completely dead, then you're spending it's cycle while your phone is overcharged at night.

Because that IR blaster is a part of MI’s ecosystem of various products ranging from vacuum cleaner to TV. All of those products can be controlled via a remote and MI wants to remove the barrier of remote from between and make you control everything in your house with just your phone. If you compare all the manufacturers in Xiaomi’s range then none of the other mobile manufactures have such a large ecosystem as them. Hope this helps!

If you have a phone something like Oneplus, you can charge it right when you wake up, get ready(eat, shower, etc) and once you're ready to leave it would be almost full charge. Any phone with fast charging can solve this charging overnight issue.

3 easy solutions: 1. Use a plug timer. I typically set mine to 1 hour so it shuts down regardless of battery percentage 2. Use a slow charger or a USB plug with auto shutdown - a slow charger can reduce the amount of current being fed to your device so it fills up just when you're waking up. An autoshutdown USB cable will shutdown any current flow once it detects the device has fully charged. 3. Use a software called "battery care" this is supposed to be a built in feature on android 11 (some android phones at lower OS versions already have it too). What it does is to reduce the current demand of the device so that it finishes charging by the schedule set by you

I have a question about this: I always use my Note 10+ as my media device along with its Samsung Dex. Even at 100%, my phone is still connected on my pc and continuously charging at the same time. What are your thoughts about the degradation of the battery of devices when used this way(e.g. casting on projectors and TVs via cable)?
@ryanfelisario
@ryanfelisario 4 жыл бұрын
I would have to agree with this. Thank yugatech for this information. I used to have a Samsung S6 back in 2015. It is a very reliable phone, but I noticed after 2 years or so the battery gets hotter even on a normal use like social media on a day to day basis. A technician once told me that there is a possibility that the battery is already deteoriated. Now I got a new smart phone and have this VOOC technology that regulates voltage intake as they claim. One youtube vlogger said that as much as possible to maintain our smart phone batteries between 40% to 80%. I never overcharge my phone overnyt even if they have these advance features. I bought a powerbank that is compatoble with VOOC charging. Once the charging reached 100%, it automatically turns off. Even if you are using another brand of smart phone, it detects the battery at 100% and turns the charging off. But it is always safe not to charge overnyt as smart phones nowadays have this "Sleep" feature which means when it is idle for a long period of time, the entire system relaxes and use minimal power. Thank you for reading my comment.

TL:DR You'll be replacing your phone when it dies around 2-3 years of usage or if there's a new affordable phone in the market that surpasses your dead phone.

Or some phones like Sony with Qnovo Adaptive Charging and now Apple have "Optimized Charging" which learns your charging habits so that it will only charge to 80% during your active hours then stops at your inactive hours then goes to continue to 100% when your close to using it again.

I always knew overnight charging was bad and i try to avoid as much as possible but I did not know that I should charge to 80-90% then stop. I actually used to try to let it reach 100% before unplugging. This actually makes it simpler for me.
