One of the funniest things I saw about this specific topic is that some of the harmonizers sold online are radioactive themselves. There was a guy in the reviews who demonstrated how he used them to calibrate his geiger counter. Absolute gold.
@HifiCentret Жыл бұрын
Exactly. We're not all buying them because we believe the BS. For some of us it's radioactive items for our collection. In the US it's easy to get natural ore samples and various professionally made/grade test sources properly labelled and everything. In EU - not so much. Most of the countries are scared sh..less by less than a household ionizing smoke alarm with americium. So for anything to test geiger counters with perhaps except x-rays (you can always do a hack with a power amplifier tube and a naked x-ray tube you can probably also get, just declare it as vacum tube, but not entire apparatus). Then really the only "new" sources are old smoke alarms as long as some sells old and NOS, for new I've only been able to find optical smoke alarms even though I don't think that ionizing as such has been outlwed (yet at least). There's of course also vintage glass, pottery and radium painted stuff but again here not as common as in US (found my first vase yesterday with spots of uranium glace and also found out a 70s compass I was given has radium). So by far the easiest way to get hold of radioactive samples are buying quack products. But hey at least in the unlikely event they should get caught in customs then you can just play stupid that you want to improve your health and such wonder products are not sold locally - perfectly valid claim for a quack product but not as much for a pro test sample. Perhaps natural ore can pass as a collectors rock sample but not have the guts to try it - they're quite expensive if you find someone that will try to ship it outside US.

Radio frequency specialist here. No worries, RF radiation is safe for the general public. Most buildings in urban/suburban areas have 4-8 foot radio panels and other antennas. These can emit thousands of watts of power. RF radiation doesn’t damage DNA like ionizing radiation; however, it can heat up and cook organs that lack cooling (like eye balls). Workers who access the rooftop can be in danger of RF radiation exposure, which can sterilize, blind, and cause sickness to the workers. However, no one inside the building or on the streets is is danger. Not even if a million panels were on the roof. This is because the waves are directional and are aimed away from the building/street. Even if they were aimed in these areas, you would only be in danger if you stood within 6 feet of them for several minutes. You could stand in front of them outside of this range indefinitely, even for the rest of your life, and be fine. In comparison, your phone/headphones are not outputting anything close to this wattage. They’re also subject to even more intense regulations than cell sites are. Basically, unless you’re cooking ramen with a open door 1000w portable microwave in your pocket, you’re 100% safe. Even then, you’re more in danger of burns than you are of RF sickness.

Cellular phone transmitters, installed on those buildings or tower masts, never exceed 5 to 10 watts of output power. The range of a mast is defined by the shape of antenna lobe, which is computer-controlled to cover only some areas, and the output power. The range is around one or two miles in a city. The 1000s of Watts you talk about, are from TV broadcast transmitters, usually located on some mountain top. The situation was dire in the '80s with illegal FM transmitters, shooting 100s or 1000s of Watts in populated centres. Thankfully, that is gone now.
@donadams74693 жыл бұрын
you need be more worried about a shit ton of omni antennas on a roof tbh unless you are dumb enough to stand in front of an active cell antenna all dam day maybe a sled mount
@fskate23 жыл бұрын
@@antoniomaglione4101 Not so anymore. Power output is continuously increasing these days. A single group of ants can run thousands of watts. Even so, it’s very common for an antenna to have no measurable power and rather rare for it to exceed more than 100 watts. Many adjustments have been made to sites to maintain safe power levels on rooftops

I worked in dog sled racing. People think if you win a race its a measure of knowledge and skill. No one thinks that maybe the best ones aren't at the races to begin with. Any equine activity too. Theres a whole crowd of people who are excellent horseman who think those competitions are cruel and stupid. animal racing needs to be outlawed though. That is definitely a case of confirmation bias. underdog race horse movies and bs like that. big pretty hats and celebrities at the Kentucky derby. It all normalizes it. But it really is remarkably similar to animal fighting. Michal Vick would be good at training sled dogs he would pick it right up. No joke. you train fighting dogs by getting them to run. Lots of cardio, fighting is an endurance sport. The life of a dog fighter and the life of a dog musher are remarkably similar.
