When I sit home alone too long, that is when I get into the refrigerator. I need to run a few errands or just get out and change the subject/scenery..

No, emotional eating is when you eat to comfort yourself from uncomfortable emotions or feelings. Sometimes it's okay to eat for comfort as long as you're aware that you're doing it. But it's not good to solly rely on that method every time because it could lead to health problems.

Thank you for addessing emotional eating. This past year has been awful with the loss of my mother. I've turned to food to absorb my pain since my emotional needs are not being met by other people. Now i feel ready to take back control of my life. Its so overwhelming. I am okay and need to be a better version of myself.

I am/have been for decades an emotional eater and learning from you has been a life changer. In another video you mentioned something about transitioning from one state to another and how it may evoke an urge to eat. That, combined with your tips in this video has helped me alot. I have noticed that I get the most urge to eat at transitioning times that involves me getting ready to fo things that are most stressful. Just figuring this out, and then naming it something (different from my own name , which is another tip that I learned from you) has been very helpful, to say the least. thank you 🙏🏻 ❤

You have helped me so much in the past few months to recognize and acknowledge my feelings regarding my eating disorder. I have struggled with an ed for 2 and a half years now shifting from anorex. to binge eating and you have no idea how your videos impact me on getting a clear head again and just reflecting my behaviors. Thank you so much.

Thank you for your work! I have been able to accumulate more than five years sober from drugs and alcohol. Food, that’s another story. The hold food has on me is greater than any drug around. Over time my eating has gotten worse.

Massive respect and admiration for you getting sober. Food is a different beast isn’t it? Applying the same black and white thinking to food as alcohol and drugs often doesn’t work and may make it worse ❤️‍🩹

Great work on the steps! I was in OA for a long time and the idea that I had to cut out all my "binge" foods or "triggers" really messed with my mind and made me worse with the eating. It's not like alcohol where you don't need it to survive every day. Of course with food you do. With Sarah and her videos, I have been able to give myself permission to eat anything I want when I'm hungry and cut the judgement on "bad and good foods". There are none for me. I have been so much more peaceful about food and it's so freeing! I've been watching a video a day ever since I found Sarah, and that daily connection is like a meeting for me. I crave it daily, even if it's a rerun. Keep coming back. LOL

What if you just really enjoy food? What if you don't eat THAT much but enough to not lose weight. Those 500/800kcal extra a day (which is easily done..it sounds like a lot but isn't..)

I love this channel. I hope you will consider delving into the link between smoking and binge eating, because there seems to be a strong one. I believe a lot of us probably started smoking to control our appetites.

Hi Sarah, I am going to start to apply LILAC to my day since tomorrow. I've been applying the RALIC method, and now I want to combine it with LILAC. I think is a good idea because both are incredible great therapeutic tools. I wanted to ask you about number five (LILAC), I was thinking that a way to change my energy would be walking my dog. Does that sound like a good way to apply tip number 5?

If the feelings that come up are related to trauma, are there any recommendations you have as well as therapy?

Have you seen the video I did on trauma and binge eating? kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5fXaYWqgLGmiLc Anything that helps calm the nervous system is beneficial and reframing the story. A lot of trauma is perpetuated by the self-judgment eg I should’ve done this differently, I am wrong for feeling this way. Compassionate reframes are helpful ❤️‍🩹
