Overcoming Decision Paralysis With the Korg Triton

9:50, 10:15 “fluttery stuff”, “fluttery bit” - I don't remember how I've come up with the name, but I call it “shimmering”. I also love this subtle sound in the upper register and am often adding it. E.g., a tube-driven two octave-spaced sine oscillators analog bass is rich, deep and mellow, but lacks higher frequencies and sounds dull. Over-driving the amp only makes it harsh. I'm using the third oscillator, usually a sawtooth 2 or 3 octaves up with a warm filter, and then either sweep it fairly fast (or even sum up a slow and a fast LFOs) or s/h noise at about a semiquaver rate or even faster. It's beautiful and warm, blends seamlessly when used in moderation, and, albeit barely noticeable, "pulls up" the bass in the mix!

Excellent! Yes, absolutely - broad brush-strokes are ten-to-the-penny, but the little articulations that we often barely notice is where the really good stuff lives.

retiered Triton user here. Used it everyday in my young ages. Best workstation I came arcoss in my live. Had big hope for the Kronos, but the workflow and ergonomics of the triton cant be mached. A very cool song you have have right there. Any chance to hear the full version of it?

If I don't ask here and now whilst watching this I'll forget to check Cubase when I get I to the studio...so speaking of having hordes of plugins, is there a way to set favourites or even better create folders / lists of plugins within the cubase browser? Ie: a folder of plugins dedicated to a particular fx type or genre..or say putting all synths that are dedicated to edm bass put into a folder for quick access?

Yes there is. Go to Studio/VST Plug-in Manager. In the popup window, at the top-right, you can create as many "Collections" as you want by clicking the + symbol. In those collections you can create folders into which you can put any plugins you like. You can have the same plugin in multiple folders too. Only one Collection is ever in use at a time, and you choose which one is active via the drop-down arrow at the very top corner.
