i just lost $600 tonight. I only go to the casino 2 or 3 times a year but this time I really needed some extra cash. I think thats actually the most dangerous time to go because I become irrational and inpatient so I raise my bets thinking I will win faster. Im not going to go anymore. This form of entertainment is just too expensive for me and its not even a high quality experience. Next time I get the urge to gamble Im just gonna by a bottle of champagne to celebrate saving the money I wouldve lost by gambling.

It's all random and after winning $600.00 on a $2.25 bet on a buffalo stampede slot machine I left $586.80 up and that was my last visit, leaving up some money for a change. I decided this was the time to quit this craziness and stay away from gambling all together. It's been a year now and I just cleared off the seven grand debt on my credit card I ran up and I know I can't go back even with a hundred to try my luck because I know I'll be right back at it again. I got out before I went past the point of no return being financially ruined. It always starts out as fun but it can easily turn into a nightmare that's for sure.
@voiceofwisdom95965 жыл бұрын
I agree with you totally.....it always starts out as fun but one year I was up over 50k from slot machines....the machines were really loose at this one particular casino but after they took all the good machines out and replaced them with tight machines the party was over...then I found myself already hooked..now I have to stay away all together is the only way for me too or band myself from a casino that is like 5 minutes from my house.

It's so easy to just think "don't do it" or "just stay away", but it's so much harder than that. People really don't understand how powerful addictions are. The power of the human brain terrifies me. It's so complex that if one little thing is not right (like how the brain chemistry alters for addicts), then it starts to control your life and what you do. In order to stop takes real determination and a strong strategy . You can't just stop gambling one day and get used to it and never go back.
@paulsmith56118 жыл бұрын
+Sid DICE Freeman You are right about finding something new. Too many people have no hobbies (or healthy hobbies) and gamble, use drugs or alcohol, or some other sort of risky behavior because they are bored and looking for something new and exciting in their life.

gambling is NOT an addiction. anyone who is stupid enough to think otherwise is utterly brainless. how dare greedy gamblers have the temerity to equate themselves to actual addicts. actual addicts suffer seizures, vivid hallucinations, real pain and death from withdrawals. gamblers have NO withdrawl symptoms. greedy idiots who don't have the decency to own their own mistakes
@coolbrett7 жыл бұрын
+Dave Moodie it's funny you say that considering it's a set in stone fact that it is indeed an actual addiction. You're fighting a useless battle. The gambling addicts brain chemistry changes the same way drug addicts brains do that proves it's a dangerous addiction. How about the fact that everything tells you not to do it but you continually go back and lose your whole paycheck every week, and many people throw away their relationships, all possessions, and even their actual lives because of it. If that's not a sign it's a life-ruining addiction then I don't know what is

thanks to all of you who have left a comment...some of which i agree and some not. Those who have compulsive and addictive tendencies when it comes to gambling will almost definitely tell you it is not a greed issue. Those who do not "suffer" the addiction are less qualified to make that assumption and i can understand why that conclusion is reached. Many will say that it is about being in action~ escaping perhaps from something which bothers them...a trigger if you like that kicks in when things are going wrong or if life becomes a real struggle. Many can cope with these situations whilst others turn to maybe running down to the pub and drowning their sorrows or relying on drugs. Many compulsive gamblers are cross addicted too. Its a complex subject and i cant address all the situations in just a few lines but i read all the comments you guys write and take them all on board. The more one understands the more it helps, even if there is no proven cure.

I am a recovering gambler and everything you say is true,we talk about winning,we delude ourselves, we become irrational where gambling is concerned. My habits lasted 50 years and the best thing I can say is that it is a thing of the past and best decision that I have ever made.Recently I have convinced a 27 year old man not to go 50 years like me to find out that gambling is no good for anyone and he has made his decision to quit gambling for good.This young man is heir to his father's millions and he realises that he has no further need for gambling.I know that giving up this silent solitary addiction is difficult but I wish every person who gambles the power and the strength to overcome their destructive lifestyle ritual.

The thing that gets me is not the concept of gambling as an addiction, but that these people drop thousands into slop machines, and don't even understand how they work. As in, not understanding that each game is completely random, and the fact that you're pumping in $50 and $100 bills doesn't increase your chances of winning big.

I don’t understand, he just said that it’s random that the wins come. But then said there’s a percent that you’ll win, surely that means that the wins aren’t random and if you lose 20 spins in a row you’re actually going to get a win soon...
@fanaticalapathy68636 жыл бұрын
the way they calculate the odds of all the different icons falling into place, its highly likely that the machines pay back roughly 90 cents to the dollar. you cant just look at it over 20 spins or 100 even. but over one million spins its highly likely 90% goes back out to the player. you might put 100 dollars in and hit it 1000 times or more playing at a dollar a spin before you lose everything. you just dont notice the small wins so much. sometimes they dont even win the money back for that spin. its like doing a survey. you cant just ask 10 people something and get an opinion, but ask 1000 and that might be a different story. its random, but over millions of spins there is a clear pattern.

I'm sorry but if you lose in machines and complain that's kinda stupid. Play games where you have an edge (BJ, poker, for example) and set aside money for casino, pay your bills first. Have a stop loss limit. Hit that - go home. In poker you just need experience and passion for that game + select your table, sit out first hour and observe.

That's like telling a meth addict to smoke a joint instead of taking a hit of meth. Your comment is ridiculous. You clearly play poker ,and probably consider yourself as a fairly good player. But your comment is based in the fact that you personally feel you're not addicted to the game. You feel skill is involved, and you're not addicted to the game. You're delusional. My friend, only a sick mind says that is no God. Sorry to say it that way, but i guess you have not notice the growing evil that is surrounding us...No, it is you that is in denial. It is because almost everyone has turned away from Jesus Christ (by design) that we will see full evil like we have not seen before. The elite take God very seriously ,that's is why they are Satanist!! And if you read the Bible you would know why this things are happening and what is approaching. Everything done in this world is done by design, to keep YOU asleep. Spiritual warfare is very real, and it sounds like you have picked your side whether you believe or not.
@chriswilson19687 жыл бұрын
Armour of God Only a sick mind would believe in such nonsense. I'm a good person who does no evil, not because I am blackmailed to be good but because I want to be. There is zero evidence that suggest the god of the bible exists so why would I believe in it? I don't need that crutch to live my life. I have accepted the natural order of this world. Everything lives and has its time and then it dies returning it's borrowed energy back to the earth. The Bible and God are clearly just creations of human imagination and until I'm proven otherwise beyond a reasonable doubt I have no reason to think otherwise. I have no way of knowing for sure but I don't believe it's true for one second. I am an Agnostic Atheist and that's not gonna change anytime soon. As far as I'm concerned there is nothing supernatural about this world or anything in it. You believe whatever you want to help you sleep at night but I sleep just fine.

Im a single man with a anxiety disorder who is on social security disability for my mental illness, cant really get a girlfriend when women find that out. I have money cause i save it from not having a girlfriend, but then i get depressed and gamble that money and get all caught up in the cycle of gambling. when your in my shoes its kind of the only entertainment source i have but its destroying me at the same time. I go to the gym and workout and that makes me feel better most days but that dont last long.

+nick steele you don't have a mental illness. You're just a greedy moron. stop trying to pass the blame onto some non-existent illness. you have only yourself to blame fot being so greedy. gambling isn't an addiction. enough of the self pity
