When DJ speaks, I listen. Regarding anything. Dude has been through it all, recovered and went through it all again. And here he is strong as ever. Beast of a human.

I love how he’s humbled himself. Blows my mind. You can tell he maintains that confidence, but he’s not a prick and you’d expect somebody with that history at that level, combined with the injuries and his story… man. It’s incredible

One of the best, most honest conversations I’ve heard on this topic. As someone who works with others and deals with chronic pain and injury myself, this was motivating, encouraging, inspiring. Thank you for sharing!

I'm really looking forward to this one as someone who is riddled with injuries. Also adding a comment for the algorithm.

Great video as always gentlemen. Thank you for sharing your perspectives and strategies to work through injuries others may see as debilitating. Not having to learn these lessons through our own trial and error is extremely powerful information to share.

We appreciate the support. Many more deep dives on the way but I really enjoyed this conversation.

In September 2018 I awoke from a 14 day coma caused by a bacterial infection. Between the infection and the treatment, after a month in an ICU, I was physically wrecked. I literally couldn't even sit up. Then it was off to a physical rehab for months and months of physical therapy. Recovery (which is ongoing today) was one little victory after another little victory. Getting well enough to transfer myself to a wheelchair. Starting to ride a stationary bike for people in wheelchairs. After two months, reaching the point I could stand to urinate (gentlemen I think you'll understand why that was BIG DAMNED DEAL). Every time I stood, even if it was for 10 seconds was a victory. Now, five years later in the gym, little victories are an extra 3 minutes of aerobics or two extra reps on any weight exercise. You count EVERY VICTORY, no matter how seemingly insignificant.

How bad was it to get the surgery? Mine is painful but I can still train. It just hurts. Is that surgery time?

@ I go in for surgery this December 5, 2024, so I haven’t had the surgery yet
