Ill be 70 this year and Ive bought a bike after 29 years and I have anxiety about riding again, can I, should I, all those doubts but I sure did enjoy riding before and know I would/will again. Thank you for your nice ride and the subject of it.

Awesome thanks for sharing bro. I have had anxiety issues for 30 years. I started getting comfortable last month where my fear was going away and then I got sideswiped and crashed. But I can't let it stop me. My big issue seems to be bridges and freeways with groove cuts that give me a fear of losing control. Anyway thank a lot for making this video.

Bridges do it for me too... Almost instant panic. I feel your pain. Hopefully you're doing better now, and hopefully my anxiety subsides a little as time goes on.

The fear goes away, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. Also, I've found that speed is your friend in a lot of situations, which is also both good and bad. Acceleration helps you cut through the hesitation of other drivers, but can easily lead to miscalculations.

It will pass my friend. Love that you are making these videos. I have a second channel iv been getting ready to do the same thing. Been on two wheels for 38 years. I had that fear the first few times on the highway but it passed. Its funny how 60mph on a back road feels fine but get on the highway same speed it feels like 100. lol. Good stuff man. And its not the speed you are having a problem with. Its all the other stuff added to it. Like you said wind, cars and trucks as getting passed often is always an issue. P.S. At about 150 you get tunnel vision and things get quiet.

Ridden my Ninja 250 on the highway. Feels like a big place on a small machine. The wind is a factor because it's light. And the crosswind is definitely a learning curve.

I'm a new rider and I've got about 1,400 miles on my bike so far. All my riding has been on country roads. I still have not ventured onto the highway yet but I think this weekend I'm gonna give it a try. Cars don't bother me, but I don't like being behind big diesels. I had a diesel pass me one day I was going about 60mph and the diesel was probably passing me at about 75 mph. I was not expecting that suction to be so strong. It like pulled my upper body forward with quite a bit of force. Needless to say I did not like that at all. Pretty trippy. I'm trying to find a video on how to deal with diesel trucks on the road.

Chris I am the same way. I started on a mini bike as a kid , then a Honda CT90 , then a 71 CB350 in my 20's. I got tired of motorcycles , sold my CB350 to my brother in my 20's. In my 30's and 40's no motorcycle , now I'm 59 and have a 1975 Cb360t and a 1986 Honda Shadow 700, I got 2 years ago. I was brave in my 20's ,now I'm scared to death to ride, getting hit by a car worries me. But once I'm out on the road, I'm too busy operating the motorcycle to be scared. Shifting threw gears watching for people, dogs and deer crossing the road , it's a job , you have to pay attention. Its thinking about all the danger at home before I ride , is what bothers me., to afraid to get on it.

Interesting. I have a similar story 25 years ago I had a Yamaha Xs1100. Don’t remember ever having any fear just picked it up again at 49 years old passed my MSF course and bought a royal Enfield 650. Did all the parking lot stuff with it. Decided to take it on his first proper ride to the gulf coast here in Florida. All smiles until I reach to 60 mph two lane straight as an arrow Road. Hitting 50 miles an hour, the smile was gone and replaced by gripping anxiety. The bike felt stable. It was just the rush of wind and the buffering of the helmet, and whatever else when the car is stacked up behind me, and eventually started passing me, it was almost a panic. A few rides later I’m still only comfortable around 45 mph. Maybe it’s age, maybe it’s wisdom, maybe I’m just not as sharp as I used to be. I hope it improves.

That ride in Colorado Springs was the smoothest safest ride I've ever done. I went on a group ride yesterday, about 50 bikes, and it was more like a race. 70-75 on back roads. I don't know why they were in such a hurry...

Having good braking skills and knowing how long it takes you to stop is the key to transforming fear into respect. Having all that gear piled up on top of the bike AND behind the rear axle is definitely NOT helping the handling of that motorcycle. It also serves as a really cool SAIL in the wind. Be safe out there. 😎

I've been riding for about a year and a half. Bought a iron 883. Took the msf course btw prior to purchasing a bike. By far the wind has been my biggest concern. I recently upgraded to a sport glide. Much more stable bike on the road in my opinion. I've ridden interstate a few times lately and can really tell the difference between the sport glide and the sportser. I'm not afraid of the interstate but much prefer back roads. My advice for what it's worth. Practice, practice, practice. Don't be pressured into riding above your skill level

Just getting back into riding here. Turns don't bother me, but yea, 50mph and up I start getting nervous. Also, some stretches of road, for some reason, bother me more than others. Long straight stretches mess with me. I'm trying to just ride to my comfort level and figure I'll either get there later than some folks or let others go around me. lol. Happy, safe riding!

Driving along on the most ideal, comfortable, slow windy road in our fantasies, while talking about the fear factor of highway driving! Is this the definition of irony? I had a vision of someone accelerating on an on ramp at 75mph, passing and switching lanes, explaining how he got comfortable doing it. I still need to catch my breath at that speed.

That is what I would call a top and rear heavy luggage loading problem there. Enough about fear of riding fast....you should have the fear of getting into a irretrievable wobble, speed wobble....its basically basic physics. being afraid of riding a bike at speed on the highway is bad sign...are you sure you should be doing this? Oh and by the way , those pointed handlebars....that is usually the part the bike you hit in a simple rear end crash.....your safety considerations are not being considered. I have you ever heard of a crossbar pad on a dirt bike...thats for the forward motion chest and face protection in the event of a mishap.....those bars would cave in your face, I suspect you wear an open face helmet?
