Always a good bit if info. Luckily I've not had to do that yet. I always use those pre-cut graphteq tusq nuts which I've had good luck with.

i had a similar problem, i use those dimebag strings, and it low E was to thick for the nut so i filed it or well tried, and i filed it too deep, so i have just been tying a tie or spare guitar strap on it, andi honestly didnt like it, so i was going to buy a new nut, but i seen this, so i dont think i will have too! thank you! and if for some clarification, sometimes i would play it a little too hard and it would just come out of the slot, it really frusterated me, but with this, i can fix it, thanks!

I've got a problem with my new glarry Telecaster. the nut slot looks like it was cut with a angle grinder. and the Low E and A string is touching the neck. I bought a TUSQ XL Nut and somehow it needs shimmin it sits to low in the neck slot. I took the string tree off the D and G because they were also just missing the neck.

Won't the strings eat it's way into the glue, and will not the lubrication dampen the vibration of the string?

Thank you for your usual, excellent videos. I enjoy watching… Any likelihood you can tell us where to get these jeweler’s files? The ones I see on Amazon are the flat annoying ones that are way too big… Thank you!

I had a similar problem with open B string.I managed to loosen truss rod a turn and it gave enough relief to cler the fret,this is a good option if relief and action has been adjusted and it still rattles.Good to know for future reference.Thanks

I find that a lot of Gibson Custom Shop guitars have a nut slot cut very deep, often too deep for the high E string causing it to rattle on the 1st fret when played open. These guitars usually have nylon nuts. I've used various fillers for nuts made from plastic, bone and other materials that work very well, but never one made from nylon. What can be used as a filler for a nylon nut?

Thank you for your comment, Mark. I use super glue (the thicker kind). :-)

I use bone nuts, then use bone dust, superglue then a catalyzer... 50/50 bone nut dust make a paste, fill, catalyze the slots on this nut are way too deep, the nut should be filed down to where 50% of the strings are exposed, potential building/buzzing so forth here with deep slots, V towards the rear..

Agreed! :-) Ok to save some bone dust in a small vial for work like this. BTW, I also save the ball ends of strings should spacing be needed for things like a Bigsby.

Why 14 layers of tape?
@guitarhowtos2148 Жыл бұрын
14 is common however the layers are dictated by fret height

plastic nut should have bought a bone and thrown that out
