99 deville, transmission was showing too high in idle, so i removed about a quart, now the reading is showing where it should be in the hot zone, but now the car isnt running right, was running fine when the fluid was way too high, such garbage

Maybe it runs better with the transmission fluid the way it was

It’s interesting how he’s trying to demonstrate with his hand over the top of the motor with the hood open😂

Excellent video. I'm going to assume that you check the Overflow plug down underneath the vehicle and let the excess drain out when the liquid is cool. Is that correct?

When there's a transmission fluid leak through a seal, does removing the excess fluid recondition the affected seal and prevent further leaks?
@walterperry23306 ай бұрын
No, once it starts leaking, it’s done. It’ll probably keep leaking. The only thing you can do is try putting something in there to rejuvenate the seals and hope it stops it.

@@walterperry2330what do you mean put something in to rejuvenate the seal? Other than transmission fluid?

Great Video! Very informative. Not sure why but this information seemed to be a bit hard to find on YT. Thank you for explaining it clearly. You've earned your self 1 more sub :)

Will too much pressure from Too much fluid loosen up the screws from under the transmission cover???
@goldengirls01257 ай бұрын
Hello, I just checked my transmission fluid and it’s really high. I noticed the transmission fluid was added 3 k miles with a conditioner just before I bought it. I looked under the car it’s it’s wet where the pulleys go into the transmission and has dropped down onto steering rod. Any suggestions what I should do?

Mine is a little high but every time its shows ka little low when its at operating temperature then when i add some it ends up a little high so i just left it a little high

I have a 2018 Cheveolet Equinox LT AWD 1.5L 4 cylinder. I changed my transmition fluid. My car does not have the dipstick it has that side screw for checking which i could do but is unnessarily too difficult. Since the transmition holds 10 qts and when you drain with the drain plug it only releases like 4.5 qts. So they say to properly change it with that method, you change it like 2 to 3 times within a short period. I catch the oil in the bucket and then measure how much comes out and put the exact same new fluid back in. It worked the first 2 times but this third time i figured id put about an extra half quart back in to account for what is lost on the sides of the bucket and the sides of what i measure and the funnels and all. And i figured a little extra to top off in case it was a bit low. What a bad idea. I started driving jt and like 15 to 20 minutes later i felt heat through the firewall on my toes and the transmition is right in front of them. Only noticed hard shifting decreased acceleration and weird sounds. I parked it as soon as i could and will drain some fluid out now. I googled it and it said the same thing i experienced. Then found this video. Never knew it was that critical. Hopefully it operates normal after i drain some. Thanks!

As always, consult owner's or shop manual..... However, generally speaking: Vehicles w/ a dipstick (to check fluid level), important to note that (yes) engine at operating temperature, and be sure to place gear selector in EACH gear for a few seconds while at a standstill with engine running. This allows any tapped air to be purged out of passages & solenoids in that complicated maze of the valve body. Keep engine running either in Park or Neutral, then pull dipstick as you demonstrated for proper reading. . Glad you mentioned access plug (on some vehicles that do not have a dipstick). But still, same thing: engine needs to be running during level check. . Bonus Note: Never ever mix trans fluid types. Contamination wrecks havoc especially on newer technology tranny's. Always stay with OEM fluids. . Thanks for sharing !
