Hi Codi, it is great to see Maddie out enjoying some pasture grass. It is a bummer that so many of those chicks died. Hope your replacement batch is better. It is great that Izzy has his own chickens and able to make some money at only 9 years old.

I was hoping to see how you all clean out that hen house after moving Izzy's chickens and before those poor baby chicks arrived. I ask because I have bad lungs and I know I'd wear a N95 mask because my allergist requires it, but I am also curious how much stuff goes into the air. I am an urban gardener and chickens are allowed, but I only want them to peck at ticks and mosquitos in the yard, basically. If I get some eggs, yay. Thank you for advice. Take care.

Not much cleaning happens in between.. That's not an issue in a small healthy operation. It's the big commercial farms that struggle with diseases all the time that have to majorly clean everything in between batches.

I know im late to the game but why not just put tires on the front as well to make it easier for anyone to move?

Good point! I did consider that. The biggest issue is they would have to be able to swivel to turn the pen.. making them swivel and be on a lever to lift up and down would definitely not be impossible, it'd just take some doin. The dolly seemed simpler, and it works pretty well.

What hatchery did you get them from? That's a horrible turn out. You can expect to lose a couple during transport but not almost ALL of them....

Meyer Hatchery. I've never had problems with them before. Don't think I've ever even had one chick dead on arrival. They are replacing them at least.

I'm really surprised they didn't send you a whole new order. That is not great customer service, especially considering they didn't send your whole order to begin with. 😢
