It's called being curious and that's how learning happens. That goes for both horses and people (children). I'm surprised that the mom isn't more nervous about what's happening to her with her baby right there.

@@84953 some mares don’t fret a lot. My mares dam was always like “take her away.” But if you met my horse and knew her as a baby you’d understand why her mom wanted a break.

Aww, I think the mare was teaching her baby by example - “be calm, don’t wiggle, and see it doesn’t hurt to get your feet trimmed.” Interesting that the 4 footed spectator wanted some milk instead of a yummy piece of hoof trimmings to chew.

Yes, I used have a shoer that always trimmed my gelding way too short and every time he was sore for a week after his trim. Needless to say I fired that guy.

from what I know it's recommended to not ride the horse the day they get trimmed, so they can get used to the feeling. So they probably feel it!

The cameraman stealing glimpses of the baby horse throughout the entire video was the sweetest thing!! In the middle of the process he’d just pan the camera to the baby’s face for a second or two before returning back to what was going on. Awww

It's very satisfying to see her feet all properly trimmed up neat and tidy. When I look at any horse, one of the first things I do is look at their hooves. If they haven't had any attention in a long time, my next thought is, "Oops! Time to call the farrier." Props and kudos to all farriers. They are wonder workers. 😃
