Many of the Volvo Penta engines from this era is very similar, so most of this series will be relevant for owners of other engines including tamd and tmd series, D and AD series from 1988- 1993, AQAD series and KAD series. Fantastic videos thank Svend, i am located in Fremantle Western Australia and have installed two TAMD 41 A (1986) into a 1974 vintage Savage 10m flybrige cruiser. They have been in the boat for approx 11 years now. I too am now progressively overhauling components. Your videos are very informative and professionally presented. Keep up the great work.

Hello Sven, I have a question that I would like to hear if you can answer for me. I have to remove the diesel injector pump on a Volvo Tamd 41b, year 1990. When I dismantle this pump, does the cam wheel / pulley need to be fixed? I have seen that a Timing Tool Kit for Landrover is avible. Is there anything similar for Volvo? Or how do you do it? Hi - new to diesels.. Have a TAMD41A that doesnt seem to be getting oil up at the rocker shaft, but has good oil pressure. Is there an oil line that feeds the rocker shaft on this model? How would I check why oil is not getting up there? Thanks

Svend Where are the the two anodes on the engine. One is on the heat exchanger where is the other one?

On the front end of the original oil cooler. Some engine has uppgraded the original oil cooler to a newer version. This have no anode, so it is possible your engine only has one. Check for a square bolt on the front end of your cooler. Good luck!

how do you lock the engine when to loosen / tighten the crankshaft bolt?

On the right side of the flywheel housing, there is a small hole (oppisite side of the starter) . Insert a small pipe extension bar into this hole, and apply light pressure. Turn the engine by hand intill the extension bar slips into a hole in the flywheel. Or, depending on how access is, you might be able to look down the side of the engine and into the hole. Be shining a flash light into the hole, you will see the corresponding hole in the flywheel when they line up, and then innsert the extension bar to lock up the engine. Good luck!
