@noosphericaltarzan
@noosphericaltarzan 4 ай бұрын
@@tylerb3023 lol old school lifters used to do stuff like this all the time. You don't need fake weights to get there if you are already big enough. The last clean and press record in weightlifting was 236.5 kg. If you can clean AND press 521 lbs, then you can probably strict press from the rack 275 lbs for eight reps no problem. It just takes years and years and years to get there. To wit: I plug in his 1x8 @ 275 lbs in a one rep max calculator and it yields and estimate of his one rep max that day at around 341 lbs. So how many reps of 275 lbs strict presses could Vasily Alekseyev have done that day instead of one rep of clean and press at 521 lbs? Just to put it in perspective.. 275 lbs for eight reps is amazing, but it's not even remotely close to the elite.

I think the best advice I took for muscle growth was to use A LOT less weight, up the reps, control the eccentric and maximize the stretch under tension. I've been doing that with all my training and while I have to use laughably low weights, I'm getting great results. I wish I would have had this mindset earlier LOL, but I guess better late than never. :)

I guess it depends on your goals. build a bigger looking muscle or build more strength both area perfectly great. I tend to not want to look super jacked and yoked but more strong. but hi thats me! I am doing a Powerbuilding sort of a program, which has high reps low weight days, and heavy weight low rep days. so I work on best of both worlds. :)

Just like how doing hand release push-ups can show you where you are most efficient when it comes to pressing, same thing with the overhead I will approach the bar with my heads right where I would be holding a front rack, walk up to the bar and get my clavicle next to it, release my hands and grab the bar and that's where I feel the most efficient and the strongest, which is obviously going to be outside of shoulder width

Excellent exercise demonstration! As I said about your back training workout, "Excellent back training demonstration, and practical tips, and sane advice that works; conducive to exercising"; in this shoulder. Since performing most overhead pressing movements, the side deltoids get worked, too. And, for me, that is one of the main benefits of pressing, in this case overhead. As for triceps, that is one of the purposes I do pressing exercise such as dumbbells press.🏋‍♂

@@thesecularatheist Dude I strongly disagree. 40kg strict Press with Mike's form with couple of reps (let's say 6-10 reps) is impossible to do for most people. For example: I do 10 reps*40kg on Military Press. Am I weak? Well, I've been lifting for 6+ years, I'm 6'4, 90 kilos and I can do 2 handstand pushups (chest to wall). Sure If I add a little leg drive, fast eccentric, don't go 100% full ROM like most lifters do and arch my chest I can go way heavier. But this will just screw my shoulders.

@@xfockinnti7283 I stand behind my argument again. If you have a very strict form, no wonder why you don't lift more than beginners. Also I like to believe you will stay consistent. If you had the habits to lose 30kg, you have everything you need to keep going
