Sometimes, movie studios get ahead of themselves and announce a sequel or cinematic universe before making sure the first film is successful. Sure, Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe have proven to be extremely profitable franchises, but if the first films weren’t well-made, none of it would have mattered.
Instead of a franchise built on a great first film, viewers have been left with overhyped films that never happened. From the sequel to World War Z that remains dead to the attempted reboot of the Universal monster franchise that flopped hard, let’s take a look at some overhyped films that were never released.
#Unreleased #Films #Movies

World War Z 2 | 2:45
Terminator Genisys 2 | 3:51

ARC-77 Fordo I read the books long before the movies I was excited the previews and trailers for 1 was in the book so I went to see it but felt confused and lost that I went and read the book again..only the trailers show what was in the book..so I watched the 2 and got about 20 min in asked for my $ back it no way is like the book..if they followed the book it would of been an epic movie look at Harry Potter Lord of the rings Hobbit they follow close and bcuz so they rake in the cash even to this day...hell twilight did it..when u go so far off book ur going to have a huge loss when ur original fan take is using the books ur book fans will call ur movie shit and divergent gets dumped..

justin thompson : It is really, really good. To me, by having those zombie types be fast was more horrifying than the ever so slow ones. Plus I enjoyed that these fast zombies did have a weakness that isn’t at first easily identifiable. Brad Pitt is excellent in this movie and so are many of the other actors. That one actor who really did contort his body for his scenes.......wow!

I may missunderstood the movie (felt sleep during first time and had to rewatch it, so I kinda made boring to myself a movie i didn't finish) but In my mind it's not the same than the book AT ALL. In the Book the guy is collecting/collected (can't recall precisely sry) data from the origin of the Zombie thing; He talks with Chineese people that had their village turned into a lake and people dove (¿?) in to collect "treasures", then jumps to another one in a religious cave or something, then an army guy (i clearly remember the soldier describing to "the writer" how he got a boner when all bombs masacred the zombies, but unlike real human beings mutilation or decompression didn't stop them). Anyways i'm losing track, the thing is that I don't remember the movies to be anything similar to the books. ¿I'm wrong? I read the books long ago but i could swear they were miles diferent from the movie. Also i thought when the Zombieland (1) trailer came out that it was a "Zombie Survival guide" movie, rofl.

@roisin culler It only becomes "creepy and weird" if it is the basis of the film. The characters Cruise portrays, are often not supposed to be his actual age, so him macking it onscreen with a real-life 35 yr old, makes sense for the movie....not that it doesn't make sense in real life also, you prude... Here's a question for you? What if the roles were switched? What if Cruise was an older woman and the women were younger men? Would it still be "creepy and weird," or would it be "empowering" then?
@xh0rsex
@xh0rsex 5 жыл бұрын
@roisin culler *you’re clearly bothered by the fact normal think it’s weird (even tho men such as yourself keep trying to make it seem like it isn’t)* - because it isn't, for 2 reasons: 1 - there is no "normal" or "weird," there is only perspective. You are attempting to present the argument that it is objectively creepy and/or weird, which is ridiculous. 2.- we are talking about consenting adults, not pedophilia, so ultimately regardless how "weird" you may think it is, it's completely fucking legal, whether in a film or in real life. It's a non-issue, get over it. *trying to convince me that a 60 yo (of any gender) dating a 25-30 ish yo person makes sense.* - lol, what doesn't "make sense" about it? Does it defy physics? It's not like we're talking about circular triangles here... it's just 2 adults with a large gap between their ages.... This happens all the time in real life, and it's even a fetish for young men and women to be attracted to much older partners, so it isn't even always the case of the "creepy old man" preying on young women.... It's funny how you seem to imply that it;s "creepy" on behalf of the man. No one is forcing these younger women to be with with him. I don't remember the part in the movies where he drugs them and forces them to be attracted to him...the attraction is mutual. *these men are in the 50-60’s and there female leads are barely in there 20’s,the roles are never reversed so your hypothetical is useless.* - it's a hypothetical... you do understand the meaning of the word, right?.... and honesty, I was referring to real life as well, not just movies. I just used Cruise as an example since that's what the topic was on. *you tried to use a “double standard” and all you did was prove my point and shed light on another issue,so thanks.* - I didn't have to "try" anything, because it is a double standard...and you've made no point other than you think it's "creepy and weird."

If Universal picked lesser known actors, I think they would have had a shot because then they would have actually focused a lot more on the writing and the plot, also, not blowing their budget sky high, when Iron Man 2008 came out, RDJ wasn't exactly the bankable actor he is today. Personally, I found The Mummy an okay film, it wasn't groundbreaking, but it was okay. I just felt that Universal was too confident in their star power alone, like what they did with CATS 2019, they threw every famous and currently relevant celebrities hoping that solves their problems. World War Z however was a disappointment for me because I'm a big fan of the book and Max Brooks, the movie was a good zombie movie but IT WASN'T World War Z, all the drama, all the humanity and the psychological insights in the book was all lost and replaced with action scenes that direcly conflicted to how the book's zombies actually were. Max Brooks zombie books clearly indicated that zombies were dead human bodies that had an infected brain that functioned in its most primitive state, which meant zombies were able to function as humans but SLOWER and LESS coordinated because the infection only utilized parts of the brain. It also completely turned a blind eye to the very interesting historical records that World War Z and The Zombie Survival Guide told about how different cultures' burial rituals were actually directly affected by early civilizations' encounter with zombies and their dead coming back to life.

So many times I've seen friends and myself trying to start a huge Saga and the first story was so *diluted* that no one else ended up playing another one.

Still pissed off that Lionsgate got greedy with the divergent series. Should have made Allegiant as a full film rather than half. I hated when they split movies into two. I get Harry Potter and Twilight because their final books were pretty long. But Hunger Games and Divergent didn't need the last film to be slit into two. Dictator of a small country, wears a suit of armor, uses both sorcery and high technology. FF has a decent line up of villains they could have used, but they went with the #1 big bad for the team right at the start, instead of building up to it. Unlike say... Loki or Red Skull, Doom isn't an obvious, needs to be first, villain. They could have used someone else, instead of what they did.

Connor Phebus . They should have had him from the get go DC might have had a chance. Leto’s joker laugh was just awful. The writing probably didn’t help him much but then there’s the stories of the freak on set to go along with his shit acting job. TBH they should’ve just cancelled the movie before it was released. Keep Margot as Harley Quinn, could keep Willy as deadshot I guess and maybe Amanda Waller. Then proceed to fire everyone els and restart.

The MCU is geared towards non-comic book fans, that's why there's so much comedy. They are entertaining films, but they're for a different audience than that of the DCU. The DCU is trying to stay true to the comics by being dark and gritty. Unfortunately regular movie fans outnumber comic book fans, so that's why the DCU movies don't do so well. In the end it's about making money, and we have the comedic Shazam coming out to satisfy the plebs.

That's why Comic Book fans love the MCU, and hate DCEU. Right? Because I'm a massive 86-11 Batman fan. Great stories. Superman similarly is an outstanding character. Wonder Woman has a rich and fantastic storyline and history. But the DCEU? They just shit on the characters so they can print money for people who want to see super powered brawls. There's no nuance to DCEU. It's just strong people flying and punching.

Dark Universe was a great idea. The one thing other Studios get wrong, that the MCU got right, is that they try to promote the films using big established stars. Big establish stars come with big established egos, plus their own writers and agents who insist on having the movies refitted and remade to fit the image of their big star. Tom Cruise can make good movies, but he is basically always Tom Cruise in all of his movies. That cookie cutter character may be good for his brand, but it can be problematic when you are trying to create a universe, and his character will eventually have to play second string to someone else, or act in a way contrary to his brand, in order to fit the other movies. Better to use actors who have proved their acting chops, but who will adapt their character to be who you need them to be, rather than force you to adapt your movie to be what their brand needs it to be.

The fact Universal told WB they couldn't use the dark universe is either a blessing or a dumb move. Depending how you look at it. WB wanted to do a live action dark Justice league set in the DCEU.

The Dark Universe failed so miserably because they banked on half narratives backed by "star power", hoping no one would notice. We did. They tried too hard to smash a universe in our faces instead of allowing a universe to happen organically, as the MCU did. Solo films that allude to a bigger universe. The Dark Universe just went ham with "Oh here's our expanded universe and we'll fill you in as we go while failing to maintain THIS movie in any appreciable way." They could still make a monster universe happen, but they need to let it happen organically. Make a solo outing that HINTS at a much bigger picture behind the scenes. Draw it out. Make people WANT to see the next installment so they can get the next clue. Don't tell half stories and hope for the best while you're playing catch up with everyone else. Tell a full story about THAT character from the universe and HINT at the supporting players in the game. This is not at all complex or difficult to fathom.

Tom Cruise killed it. He was the one that suggested the whole movie change with his character being at the center of the movie. They gave him complete creative control and what did he do with it? He ended up trying to make the Mummy into Mission Impossible 2.0. That's what made it a disaster, his attempt to turn horror into an action super hero film, when that is not what the classic horror films were. Many of the scenes were stuck in there so Tom Cruise could get more screen time. But he failed to understand that star power is not the only thing that drives a movie....especially a movie franchise that already has a following. Most Dark Universe fans go for the monster experience. We don't want to see a heroic figure, we want to see a clever main character (whether he be clever like Van Helsing or a measly human) try to take out one of the most epic monsters of all time (emphasis on the monster not the humans abilities). Instead, we got a "super hero meets villain" type set up, which isn't appealing in horror.

Ton Cruise actually was the one behind the Mummy being shite, he practically had them rewrite the entire movie to make his character the focus and not the Mummy herself (which it was in the original draft). If they wrote it so Cruise's character was a descendant of Van Helsing, like I believed they were originally going for when he was signed up for the movie universe, then him being a focal point would have made more sense. The concept itself, of a clandestine group fighting the supernatural for centuries, could have worked if not for Cruise's interference with the script.

World War Z 2: "based on the gripping bestseller by Max Brooks..." Um, no. The film had the same name, and it was about zombies, but that was about the only similarity. That's why it bombed among fans of the book. Granted it would have been pretty difficult to actually do the book properly as it's more a series of short interconnected stories on a common theme, but it's like the producers didn't even try.

Here’s how to really make a good dark universe - stop with the comic relief - don’t make it look so modern and change too much stuff from the original - get better writers -stop adding famous actors to films that are only getting the part because there popular And basically that’s what went wrong with the mummy but I’ll name more specific reasons - Tom Cruse should’ve never been apart of it - they changed the mummy to a woman, not saying it’s bad she’s a woman and a woman can’t play that role but it was different and didn’t work well - the mummy’s outfit looked terrible like wth it looks badd and not scary should’ve sticked with the old Boris Karloff look - have more mummy in the film and less cgi - have less of a big story make it small like the mummy attacking ppl and rising to power not trying to take over the world already in the first movie

When I heard a about the reboot, I was intrigued! But then more details, teasers, and trailers came out and I wasn't impressed/interested in watching it. So, I understand what you mean. Honestly, I think another reason why it didn't do well was because of the 1999 version. Idk about anyone else but I loved it and if anyone else loved it as well, they might not have been super into the reboot too.
