I hated, HATED City Primeval. The writing was nowhere near Justified quality, the story was weak sauce, the characters were awful (especially Givens' daughter, yikes!) and the Big Bad was neither big nor bad. If that's the best they can do these days then I'll abstain (courteously) and make do with reruns of the original series...

It didn’t have the fun and depth as justified had, but it wasn’t as bad as everyone says it was. You can tell Covid was happening and you can see the overbearing BLM narrative of cops are bad in the writing. That’s something that I wished they’d have steered away from. It seems almost as if that they planned on one thing but different writers came in and changed it. The love story was, to put it politely, disgusting and completely out of character for the Raylan character. Look back at all the seasons of justified and you can see not one love interest or tease was fat (and this lady was absolutely fat). Yes that’s mean, no I’m not referring to her being black and yes fat people need love also. Now that that’s out of the way, some in this comment thread said the daughter (who happens to Olyphant’s real daughter) was absolutely awful. In some ways you all are right however the writing for her was crap, and she isn’t an actor or atleast not a good actor, but she might learn to not be so “wooden” in the future. Idk, I’m glad we got away from “Harlan” and Kentucky for this mini but going to Detroit wasn’t what I’d call a good choice. And before you all jump down my throat about that being the plot of the book, I know. I just don’t care. Personally I would’ve liked to have seen him in Florida or going ANYWHERE else. Basically this was Justified “lite” and I really hope they will do another one but really step of their game in the writing department.

Yes, this was nowhere near as good as the original. I didn’t even bother to finish the season.

I so agree I loved the original series this new one was a big let down , its like the emasculated Raylan. he barely shot anyone lol

This was a terrible series. This was not the Raylan that we wanted to see. no action from Raylan. I did finish the series but it was hard. I kept waiting for the old Raylan to break out and break bad. It never happened. No one cares he was getting older, If you do another Raylan series, bring back the original Raylan or don't waste our time and your money.

I did not like this second version of Justified. It could have been so much better. The “hook up” in this version is unbelievable. It always seemed to be a woke version of a wonderful story. The original was a masterpiece. This was a pale imitation.
