Dude, this is awesome. I just happen to come across this video and after watching it I immediately canceled my order of the Tobii. I installed everything as per your instructions and I was up and flying in no time. I still have some fine-tuning to do but I sure like this better than spending $300 on the Tobii. Wish we could've met up at FSExpo in Vegas to say hi. I've watched a lot of your videos and you've helped me considerably. Keep up the great work.

Thank you so much for the detailed tutorial, especially on the Opentrack. I bought Beam Eye on Steam but have had problems with the track lagging when I'm flying in DCS and IL-2. I'm hoping some of these tips will help me fix the problem.

I bought beam after watching this vid, and while I had little luck getting Beam to work well, possibly my glasses not sure, I wanted to point out you can just use openTrak as a stand alone. Select neuralnet tracker for input, freetrack 2.0 enhanced for output, Accela for filter and you won't need any other software. Works perfectly with my webcam. I set it to the lowest resolution (Under tracker portion of opentrack settings) which gave the best FPS on the tracker. Either way, I appreciate the video. The portion on open track mapping is very helpful regardless of how you get the camera to it.

Thanks for the video. I have one of the cheapest cameras from Logitech, the C270. A 43" 4K monitor is at a distance of 1 meter / 39.3". It works perfectly, and in my opinion better and more configurable than TrackIr, mainly due to the particularity that with Beam Eye, when you lose the objective, the image remains stable, as you said in the video, with TrackIr everything flashes and we lose immersion . Furthermore, the option of being able to try it first to see if it is worth buying is also incredible. I already bought it, as I need Steam for MSFS it's not a problem for me not to be separated. My best regards.

Opentrack, not only the best head tracking system but this is also the best tutorial. Very calmly explained without annoying music in the background. I have used IR tracking for years but a little sunlight on your receiver and the system sucks. Thanks to this tutorial I now also know the meaning of the scale division on the graphs. But I use the neuralnet tracker because I don't have "eyeware beam". Could it be that my movements stutter a lot. It can't be my system. I have an i9 and an RTX 4090. I have also tried several resolution changes on my webcam. But it keeps stuttering. Regards from the Netherlands.

I have used TrackIr for many years. Tried Tobii many years ago, it worked, but the software conflicted with TrackIr and VR, so I stopped using it. TrackIr works well but the glitching when you go to the outer limits is annoying. I frequently have to center the view, or move my head around in order to get it back in position. It also tends to drift backwards, so when I try to click on a button, it will click on the seat instead. I then have to move forward and recenter to get back into position. I will try this new software, and Thank you for your guide on how to set it up!

I tried this and it worked OK, I'll stick with TrackIR after my testing. I've tried it with two webcams, a cheap one off Amazon and a Razer Kiyo Pro and it would be fine if you had nothing else. My biggest complaint is that it takes a lot of CPU cycles. It would be good for a second computer running ATS. It didn't live up to the hype of this video that is for sure.

The only advice I found was buy a new one and I refuse to hand over my money for junk again. I'd rather take a chance on a web cam and hope the cpu hit isnt too bad. Thanks again for the vid.

Thanks for the detailed review. Even cheaper is the NeuralNet input option built into OpenTrack. No eye tracking though. I might try the demo of this though as a comparison. I have a 60fps 1080 webcam though so that might a benefit as I get no lag with NeuralNet, compared to my Grass Monkey puck. I changed because I could never configure the puck correctly and had to keep re-centring. Nothing on your head is a big positive too.

My only issue is that at a certain angle looking down beam just looses my eyes and it starts to like jitter so I always have issues with looking at my center pedestal, with this tutorial I can set up my head axis better so it would be already looking down before the down jitter happens. Just out of blue, my TrackIR3 won't 'reckognize the device'. I reinrtalled the app and the driver numerous times, cleaned the registry etc... Maybe it would work if I reinstalled the Windows, but I don't feel like doing it. Not if the alternative is 30 euros. AND the alternative doesn't flicker and jumps all over when you turn your head too much. Thanks for the info!

I've noticed that you only use Beam for adjusting your eye movement but then you almost completely disable eye movement in OpenTrack. Then all subsequent adjustments and settings are done in OpenTrack. What does Beam add to the setup. Do you need it at all or can you just use OpenTrack? I watched a video on just using OpenTrack with my phone as webcam but when I tried it, I couldn't the shakiness out of the picture. I don't know if it's because I wasn't using a real webcam or not using Beam.

In opentrack, moving the dot left and right determines the amount of head movement required Moving the dot top to bottom increases or decreases the camera movement that will be injected into the sim The higher the dot is UP the scale, the more the camera will move The further RIGHT the dot is, the more HEAD MOVEMENT will be required I hope that helps

Well it is nice to know about all this stuff, but I use VR for my head tracking while doing SIM Racing games, so these tools would be redundant and useless for me. VR does a great of eye tracking in any direction I look. And I can move around in a VR environment and look in all directions. If I din't have VR, maybe these tools would be of some use for me. If I should ever need something like this, I know there are videos on various head tracking tools. Take care.
