Hey guys, we know this is a long video but we really wanted to show every trailer manufacturer at the Expo. For those that are in the market for an overlanding trailer, the Expo definitely has lots to choose from. Enjoy!

Nice video. These are always helpful for those that can't make it to the big show. Sorry that you didn't stop by the Off Grid Trailers booth. Both the Expedition 2.0 and Pando 2.0 models were on display. I would have been happy to give you a tour. Maybe we will see you at Expo West 2020!

Oh no! We did stop by the off Grid Trailer booth. We are looking for the footage. If we can find it we will get it out. I hope it's not lost. And yes we will definitely see you at West.

I compliment the cadence and candor of your video. Specifically, you showed many trailers quickly without much talk about the obvious. In most cases, your direct and quickly-stated observations were all viewers needed. Periodically, you spoke with a sales/marketing person (as a courtesy) yet s/he usually launched some dull memorized dialogue. (Marketing people need to learn to better assess the knowledge level of their prospective customers.) Kudos to you. - Steve, Utah USA

Hello great video. I love the tents on top of the trailer. Im disabled and building a van into a rv. And building a 28'-32' bathroom/ storage room/ outdoors kitchen/ fish cleaning area/ atv and trailer/woodbox and gas and propane storage/ boat and trailer storage on the full trailer ladder rack/ solar and generator storage/ hand pulling fishing cart and storage rack/ 275 gallon water tank and 275 gallon black/ gray tank. all that in one double axles trailer.. Where can i get a cheap but great top tent for a trailer im wanting to build can make payments but can't afford it all at one time.

Nice detail video on offroad trailer but i feel spending 35k or higher on offroad trailer for most would sit more than it will be used for most people thats rv pricing but for the few that are overlanding all the time could be justified, have you heard of crux 1600 expedition trailer they are in Colorado big rooftop tent with additional sleeping inside tent for around 18k and smittybilt has real nice trailer with all bell and whistles 7800 to a base model you assemble around 5500 but my comment is base on the average joe who works with family who cannot spend the upper end when a rv camper will do the same for a fraction of the price i am considering buying a cargo craft offroad trailer 5x10 5200 and i build out the inside only as a base camp because i do have all the other gear on jeep from rooftop tent to all you need for overlanding, moby1 kinda was the first to build a offroad trailer awesome but sense then now out of business anyway nice viedo reviews 👍
@TsarTrail4 жыл бұрын
The great thing about overlanding is there are so many options to fit so many different styles. There are some low price trailer options and, of course like your said, the ones that are $35k+. There are plenty of $15kish trailers out there that are well equipped. It really depends on your need and budget. We have seen some great diy trailers and some really bad ones. Most of the diy ones we have seen lack off road ability. They done have much ground clearance or departure angle. But it all depends on the need. We are looking to get a trailer early next year. We can't wait.

Most of the trailers I have seen here are using the “always leaking” roof J rail. Why? It leaks!
@TsarTrail4 жыл бұрын
Not really sure. It’s best to do your research and contact some owners of trailers before purchasing. There are companies like Off Grid Trailers that have been around for a while and have never had a trailer come back with leaks. There are a few other companies out there with similar track records.

Black series pop up camper vs patriot camper?
@TsarTrail4 жыл бұрын
Apples and oranges. Both are great but are built for two very different uses. Patriot is a very well built go anywhere trailer with tent sleeping. It is awesome. Black Series is great too. It has more comforts and indoor sleeping and living space. But it will never follow a Patriot down a difficult trail. It really depends on your needs and where you want to camp.
@rodrodrod604 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply! Personally I’m prob going with the black series patron since it’s for mostly going to the beach at padre island but I just haven’t seen them in person yet. Awesome video!

I dont get it. Prices on these are ridiculous. Its a small trailer frame with an aluminum box with cut outs for drawers, etc, and a decent canvas tent on top. I could make this in my back yard in 2 weeks, for under $3000. These companies are making a killing.
@TsarTrail4 жыл бұрын
We have seen a lot of DIY trailers. Some good, some really bad. But if you have the skills you could save a lot of money, that's for sure. We have seen a few trailers built by overlanding companies that were terrible too.
@idahomountainelk4 жыл бұрын
I'm torn between the turtleback and an off grid pando or expedition. None of these trailers are cheap but I'd rather spend he same amount of money and get something well built and capable than a huge rv with thin particleboard and cheap hardware that will rattle to pieces cruising around Idaho.
@TsarTrail4 жыл бұрын
All three trailers are fantastic but they are very different in the way they function. Both of the off grid trailers offer interior space as you know where the turtle back is purely a rttt trailer. with the addition of a rtt on the off grid you could sleep more people without having to deploy an annex. Both brands expedition trailers are very similar in their off road ability but the pando sacrifices departure angle for their rear kitchen. So basically it comes down to how you want to use the trailer. Do you need to sleep more than two people? Are you going to be in cold weather often? Do you want an enclosed sleeping space or is a tent fine? It’s matter of preference. The only real wrong answer is purchasing a trailer that doesn’t meet your needs. We have spent a lot of time around all three trailers and they are all made really well. Our advice is to pick the trailer that best meets your specific style of overlanding.
@idahomountainelk4 жыл бұрын
@@TsarTrail What are you're thoughts on the Escapod topo series?
@TsarTrail4 жыл бұрын
@@idahomountainelk They make a cool trailer. But for us the use of wood, limited departure angle, limited ground clearance and minimal storage world be a issue for our use. Also the tear drop kitchen design won't allow for a 270 awning. But if none of those are an issue for you, the price point is good.

The salesmen at the hour mark must be the worst most lazy I have ever seen. After asking the questions, one guy would only gave short answers and the other guy eventually moved round back to show a fridge. It was like drawing blood from a turnip to get precise, concise timely information.
@TsarTrail4 жыл бұрын
There is some real truth to that. In his defense... The Expo days can be very long and draining. But it is better to take a break away from people and come back fresh.

You need to do your research on the Black Series before doing a YT discussion. Black Series is total high level off-road trailer.
@TsarTrail4 жыл бұрын
It is a beautiful trailer for sure. And will definitely function well outside of a campground or state park setting. But... none of their trailers will go where many of us overland. It lacks ground clearance and break over angle compared to MUCH more off road capable trailers. That is absolutely undeniable. But we all overland differently and for many, they are a great option.
