For someone like myself who’s waiting for their 70 to arrive I’ve been hanging out to watch these build series videos. It would be real good/helpful if you could mention the RRP of the products you’re using. I appreciate prices may differ but a rough guide would be extremely helpful.

Good work on getting PPF before you took it on the road. PPF are really a "must have" these days. Specially when new 4WDs cost tens of thousand of dollars. They are a cheap protection for your rig. IMO, just as important as pre-filter fuel filter kit, and catch-cans on diesel engines.

The Bushwrapz PPF is good stuff. I've got their Cape (budget) kit on my Triton, and it's still going strong after 6 months of abuse. When it's due to be replaced, I'll probably be going up a level to the mid-range kit you have, it's a lot thicker and self-healing, so shouldn't show marks as easily as the budget kit does. You absolutely need two people to install it, I made the mistake of doing it by myself and there are definitely a few spots that it shows. Should only take a couple of hours with two people.

Great content thanks. I'm interested to know what the hype is with gearstick extensions. I have a 70 series and if the driving position is correct (not like you're in a banana lounge) the standard gear position is great. Wouldn't the extension increase the arcs you have to move through when changing gears making it counter productive?

A mate of mine with his little suzuki gypsy (zek) cross a river with a bit to much momentum cause of the unstable river bed. Water splash back into his forward facing snorkel (it was bad day). It won't be a big deal on a big and tall rigs like LC troopy, Lc79s etc on 35s with 3/5 inch lift.

Personally for a vehicle of this price, its use and future abuse I would've gone FULL custom PPF as they apply it in all the nooks and edges. Bushwrapz DIY doesn't cover everything but I'm sure you'll figure that out in time, but for it's price and diy application you can't really compare it to a proper PPF fit. Make sure you get all the door jambs/sills covered with PPF.

It's looking good. PPF is a good idea. I'll be wrapping my 80 series once I get it re-sprayed. Are those 35s you fitted? 'Coz if they are, any particular reason you went with that size considering the type of 4WDing you do (ie. touring/overlanding)? Won't that be worse for your fuel economy? Or are you planning to do some hard-core 4WDing soon?
@OverlandTravellers
@OverlandTravellers Жыл бұрын
Good question, they are 315’s so close to a 35. A few reasons. Adrian our travel buddy runs the same size so we can share on trips, some people have said they noticed a difference Offroad. But honestly I like the way they look 🤷‍♂️ they are a bit of a pain, they scrub the bumper so I need a bull bar, I probably get worse economy, smaller tyres would probably be better for the touring we do. But I did it mainly because it looks good…. I would suggest people go with more convenient sizes.

Any reason not getting tyres and bits done prior to first rego? Figured it would then mean you can adjust tyres if needed without further hassle. And you will get an idea of weight with the new shoes
@OverlandTravellers
@OverlandTravellers Жыл бұрын
I didn’t actually need engineering for the 315’s but they poked out slightly so I need an extra little flare so I left them off for rego. But they added an extra 100kg over stock 150kg if I have both spares on. So a big weight difference and something to consider if people are thinking about putting them on.
@lukehutchinson6754
@lukehutchinson6754 Жыл бұрын
@@OverlandTravellers cheers for the reply, my main reason for asking is that rego in WA relies on weight of the vehicle and this in turn might affect legality of the vehicle which can cause insurance issues if it is ever needed. Looking forward to seeing the next build vid. Cheers 🍻
