As soon you pulled out that kitchen my mind was blown and were so excited to show it off like a kid lol love it. A dad has to have their toys, even better if you get to show em off.

I always say there's nothing wrong with being comfortable. I don't get off on "roughing it" unnecessarily. I like to keep it simple, but I swear some guys want a trophy for being uncomfortable and inefficient outdoors. My big fluffy pillow from home is my favorite camping accessory.

I would say upgrading the alternator is a must if you're going to add a battery (assuming you don't already have a high output alternator). I would recommend the jetboil genesis over a flash or sumo etc., the genesis will do it all.

So at dinner tonight with my daughter I informed my wife of a major purchase for our 4Runner, the purchase of a GOBI Ranger rack. My daughter, who is in her 30’s and very much into Jeeping, was very excited. I also informed my wife that over the next six years I will be building a… and before I got the words out my daughter said, you’re building an overlander! My wife was said, a what!? So after my daughter and I explaining to my wife what overlanding is, she liked the idea but being the money mined person she is asked, what’s this going to cost? Our reply was, A LOT 😂. I’m not looking at retirement for ten years so I’ll have time to build our 21 4Runner, but like you, you’re never really done building. Well, sorry for the long comment, love your videos.

good options. have you considered using all the existing cupholders in the 4wd to hold large water bottles, for drinking water. Saves having to decant and if one leaks you don't lose a lot of water. Also saves space and distributes weight.

We use those too, but on a 10+ day trip you need other solutions.

First of all, you need to understand the differences between camping, glamping, overlanding, etc. Mainly, it comes down to objective. People often say we are "glamping" because we have a serious "overland/off road" rig. They are two completely different things. The objective of overlanding is to not stay in one location (especially a campground or parks), and to do backroads, and seek remoteness. The travel is part of the experience.

As long as you properly secure your load, there isn't anything dangerous about hitch cargo platforms. Not all of us can afford large SUVs or trucks and then dedicate space permanently to the cargo drawer systems.
