I have followed you since you were in NY. In fact I spent a couple of weeks there in Tupper Lake last September, had planned to stay longer but couldn't camp without an advanced reservation! I had camped there before with no problem. So had to cut my vacation short, motels are not the same! I really enjoyed your video. Have stayed and visited that area 3-4 times. After seeing your pictures of Hurricane campground wish I had checked it out. Would have loved it I can tell. At 84 my hiking days are pretty much over but enjoy watching others. (In the Adirondacks I was able to walk quite a distance through the woods using my wheeled walker. It was amazing!) I still hope to camp at least once or twice in my minivan this year. The biggest drawback for me is the extreme heat and humidity. Guess I will have to wait until Fall. Really enjoy your videos. Thank you so much! Enjoy watching Akela. Really do miss "the Boys" though. Take Care.

Thanks Joyce, I appreciate your support and recognize you as a long time viewer. I'll be back in NY in Oct for the 1st Grandchild. May travel up into the ADK. But I have a tight schedule from Oct-March. Heading west for the winter to explore. Thanks Again

Were there any good camping spots (if you are in a van) at an AT crossing by chance? Or was that last spot right off the trail? Fabulous droneage
@GoingNoWhereFast2 жыл бұрын
If you’re at an AT crossing, most likely it’s illegal to camp overnight. Though if you’re in a van they might not notice that you’re just in the parking area. But there are lots of places close by the trail. Just look for a forest service road nearby. Most forest service roads any car can get up.

Your opening made me think of the song, “Oh What a Beautiful Morning, Oh What a Beautiful Day.” Those waterfalls are gorgeous. Glad you didn’t get hurt at the bridge!
@GoingNoWhereFast4 жыл бұрын
The bridge didn't look that bad, but I suppose a bunch of hikers with packs might test it. They should just place a support under the middle until they can make a permanent fix. Stay Safe!

Nice drone footage from above the scales. There's a ton of loop hikes you can do from out of there.

I NOW know that, wish I understood what I was getting into BEFORE I drove up that road. We got up there too late and weren't prepared. It would have been a fun day to explore around and play with the drone up there.

If I walked through weeds like that here in NC, I'd be covered in chiggars and ticks! I thought the bridge broke with you there for a second!!

Virginia is worse than NC, We spray our clothes with permetherins, it works wonders keeping the pest off me and the dog !

Do you ever worry about snakes around the pup ?
@GoingNoWhereFast4 жыл бұрын
Not really, I do worry about the snake around the boys. Dakota has avoided being stuck by several snakes, Caesar on the other hand has done damage to several, Akela is very agile and has "flown" out of the way of several scary things, but has never bothered to investigate a snake. Akela is a very unique animal. He isn't interested in squirrels, or birds. Our vet has said that most dogs that get snake bite recover without too much issue, just dose with benadryl and antihistamines.

Going NoWhereFast that is good I have one that hunts lizards and I live in Florida which I have had 5 snakes come in the house through the doggie door
@GoingNoWhereFast4 жыл бұрын
@@pamelabell5084 Do they also go out through the doggie door? My Brothers Cockerspaniel will starve to death waiting for a Lizard to reappear from its hiding place...LOL

Love the video!! I found this video while trying to get a better idea of the drive up to scales campsites. This road that you took, is it pretty do-able for a big pickup truck? My dad and I are planning on making a trip here but he is worried that the road my be rough on his vehicle (its a lease so he has to be a little careful with it) Beautiful drone footage!!
@GoingNoWhereFast4 жыл бұрын
I think if the truck is a well loved child, I might not take it up. It is very rocky! There were only one or two places where it MIGHT scrap the underside of a regular truck. If he has any height he should be fine, but it is a full 40 minute drive up hill at 10mph. If your going to stay at the top, its well worth it. I plan on doing it. I drove my 4 runner up there and it is totally stock SR5.
