You need to install an SAE connector on the bumper so you can hook up your compressor without opening the hood. You can also connect a light or solar panel if you want. Game changer!

There was an old B&w ww2 movie where a group had to cross desert to escape. In the movie using a large straight truck with 4wd-they came stuck at bottom of a great dune. They put in reverse then removed the plugs. Using the engine hand crank - turned it over slowly that it propelled the truck up the dune. The bronco has that creeper gear. How about getting stuck in sand-or see if creeper keeps from getting stuck? then put in creeper and see if if extracts itself? Check if reverse is better?

That’s really intriguing. It sounds like the ww2 truck was probably power limited. As an owner of a 50s vintage military truck, I can say they’re severely underpowered by todays standard. I’m talking 5 ton gvw with 80hp. Slow is usually the enemy in sand.

I’m almost certain he said he’s running one of the ARBs, I think the double. Although if you want some vintage overlanding points and 3-5x the speed, an engine driven York 210 is where it’s at.

As a Utah local I would not go anywhere near southern utah in mid July. I would recommend northern utah for mid summer.

Southern UT? Gooseberry Mesa has some nice vistas that aren't hard to get to and plenty of dark sky. Lots of other cool spots in the general area too but can't give them all away :)
