I had a friend with a land cruiser about the same year but no pop top . We put that land cruiser up against a brand new mid 70's CJ5 on a hillside covered with brush , trees , and boulders to see who could get the farthest up the hill , the CJ5 didn't have a prayer , the land cruiser went almost twice as far up that hill .

Both are amazing rigs! I love this vintage rigs series, as I have a 77 Jeep CJ7 that I restored and now daily drive. I would love to buy that Defender, I doubt I could afford it for what I would imagine what they go for.

Time for an NV4500 trans and some Saginaw steering on the FJ. That would eliminate some of the driver fatigue. Best thing I ever upgraded on my rig.

My understanding is that this vehicle was never intended to be a permanent addition. Only a holdover until they could get Orangey’s engine swapped and then go collect him. Right now there are far more pressing matters taken up his full attention.

Maybe I live a sheltered life but that would be one of the very few times ive seen Americans use a UHF in the scrub. Just curious is that the FJ45, because I used to drive one for work as a weed sprayer, 600 ltr tank 2 x 30 mtr hose reel and a honda pump, and we fairdinkum flogged it, and it wouldnt stop, a ute tho, it was one of the first of the 4 speeds, with the staight 6 petrol motor, the motor was all cast iron and was almost as heavy as the car, but you couldnt kill it with a stick

Why No Air!? It doesn't have to be on board, why not a portable compressor (that alligator clamps to the battery)? She sounds SWEET when you put your foot into it. Yaaaaa, best get on putting more work into her ... even though she seems perfect
