Hello! We’re Chesca & Ben, and we live full time in our self built 2012 sprinter van, Sophia. We spent 6 long months converting our tiny home on wheels, turning her from a workhorse into a place we call home. At the beginning of 2020, we were chasing the winter sun around Spain and Portugal. But when the pandemic hit, we found ourselves back home and waiting it out on Chesca's mum's driveway. Life suddenly took on a different rhythm. Over 3 months later, we finally got the tyres back on the road. Who knows what the next few weeks will bring as we get back into the swing of van life 🌍 🚐

As you need a mobile connection for work etc I would get a decent Netgear Wi-fi hot spot device with an external antenna mounted on the van. You will be amazed where you can suddenly get a signal. Gadget John made a video about his install ....works really well👍

Hey Tim! Thanks for the recommendation. We do actually have a wifi hot spot and a 4G booster on top of the van...that park up was literally in the middle of nowhere and just a complete dead spot by the looks of it! x

If you need somewhere not exposed at all, amazing walks and with 4g (EE) I usually use the one right at the end of the road at Meldon Quarry. The lake down there is amazing too! Love Dartmoor 😍 great video and so amazing to hear some folk law - something different and so fascinating! X

Hope you approved of the banana bread! Watercolours, baking, exploring... please lets road trip when you get a van?! That literally sounds perfect 😍Yes, you could park up anywhere you wanted during the day and do whatever. As long as you're not on someone's land or in a place that states no camping, I'm pretty sure you could sleep most places too. But yeah, during the day you have much more freedom to chill and explore wherever your heart desires! The absolute beauty and freedom of van life ❤ 🚐 PS: River sends lots of puppy kisses over your way! xx 🐶

Wild camping is legal on the moors but not in a van

The hats are awesome, their van is awesome, they are awesome! Are you referring to the dent on the driver's side of the van? If so, that was a casualty in Cadiz in Spain. Sophia became acquainted with a parking bollard 🙈

I've ordered the batteries, a friend who has the same van as me told me what to get. I'm getting a solar panel system soon, so knew I needed a new leisure battery anyway. We also have a self converted Mercedes Sprinter and have just booked our ferry to France from August for a 2 weeks holiday. The plan has always been to long term travel but have always struggled to decide what to do for work whilst on the road. Hey Francis! We use a 4G booster on top of the van, and a wifi pocket unit with a Voxi sim card. Has worked wonders for us, except in that park up - absolutely no signal whatsoever! Hahah oh Ant, you think I'm the scared one!! Ben and I went to Iceland last year and thought we'd star gaze one night from the hot tub. We were in the middle of nowhere, so the darkness was thick and unlike anything we've seen. As we were soaking, trying to not get spooked by the pitch black, a sheep coughed near us and it sounded JUST like a man! Needless to say we both legged it back into the cabin, Ben faster than me 😂 But we do genuinely love creepy and spooky places and have often talked about staying overnight at haunted places!! It would be such a laugh. No offence taken at the River comment. She's well and truly the star of the show. Maybe we should rebrand to Overlanding River... ?! 🐶

Yet another great video update on your travels, another great video as usual. Glad you both and your fur girl 🐺 are enjoying the freedom :) i'm only just catching up on your videos as I had an accident on the 25th June and managed to break my leg in 2 places so had emergency op and now have 2 pin fitted. so i'm off the road right now but hoping to be back on the road in September if I can get my leg working enough. The down side is I cant even fit my solar pannel on the van or get some bits done grrrrrr. i'm hoping to meet you both once i can drive and also get the bit done on the van build. take care and doggy licks from my fur boys 🐺🐺

Oh god!! How did you manage to break your leg in two places?! So glad to hear you're okay. It must be so frustrating not being able to do the jobs you want to, but the van will be there for you, most important thing is you get yourself healed. I have to go back into hospital tomorrow for a scan as one of my blood tests today is showing a possible blood clot. so may endup having to stay in hospital depending on results, if i endup staying in i'll try and keep up with your travels on my phone if i have enough data left lol. stay safe and enjoy your travels :) 🐺🐺

Just don’t answer the door, rangers have no powers to clamp or remove your vehicle, the more rules they introduce the more worthless they become. I spent a long time testing and studying what happens if you do not comply and 99% of the time absolutely nothing happens in the space of 48 hours unless it is police. With police it is easier to comply or they will just make up a charge and nick you whether your within your rights or not. It is important if you do answer the door to police that you video record the interaction from the outset as they will lie and bully you into anything they see fit. Ask them what law you are breaking etc before handing over personal details. If it is a civil matter they cannot do much but be careful, most police do not follow the rules and will do whatever they can to nick you so like I said at the start better to just comply and move on from the outset if they mean business.

Yes we've heard! We will be fine until January 2021 when the UK leaves the EU. After that, we'll have to take whatever the steps are to getting River back out again. Such a pain though!
