Hi Cyndie, watched that. Liked that, but In the purchase-version, is there a "save to .xls file button" and are there "import/export buttons" such that one can save a created pattern in excel format and import it back into the app to modify later it, and then re-save it, noting a revision number???

What you could do is just go to File/Save As and give it a new name for your revision so that you can reopen that version later. You can save as many versions as you want, plus it would be nice to have a backup version just in case.. 😁

Hello~ I've heard from other customers who use Office 365 that it works for them, so you may just need to allow the macros to run if it's not opening properly. I'm not sure if you downloaded the test version to try out first, but basically there's background code that has to be allowed to run in order for the functions to work properly. If you want to message me on Etsy, maybe we can try a few things together.

Can you make large blanket patterns with this too? Or do you have to stick to your selected sizes..?

You could make the repeats on these templates, as each repeat is usually not super huge, but the issue is that for a larger chart that was, for example, 200 stitches by 300 rows tall, that may overwhelm a computer's resources when processing the code to add all the X's, etc. It would also make the graph so hard to see as you would have to zoom way out to view the full chart. A work around is to create parts of the larger chart using the largest size in the template, which is the 51x45 square. I may do a larger chart template down the road, though, because I have gotten a few requests for that..

@@BirdsongCrochet Exactly, thats what I struggle with (use excel) when I fiddle with graphgans, where are no repeats. I did not come across program that could deal with it. Im no computer whiz, but if there was such a thing, that would "cut" the large picture into A4 sizes, that would be printable yet still readable, I would be happy to pay any money for that. Your program is still the closest to perfect.

@@viktoria.s it could be done, I would program into it where to cut it into separate pages for the PDF. The question is how big are you wanting? That's where it gets difficult to create a one-size-fits-all type of program, but I may do that with just a couple large sizes to choose from..

unfortunately it doesn't have the ability to use an imported picture, but if you can draw it in then it will add the Xs for you.

unfortunately Google sheets uses a different code than what this one uses so I've heard from testers that it wouldn't work - you can download a free sample from the blog page if you want to test it in your version tho. :)

Can the template be used for a design done in the round?

I'm not sure - normally in the round means you are actually doing 4 triangles joined at the corners, usually all having the same pattern, and the square is worked from the center out. You could use this chart creator to create one triangle but when you add the X's, it's going to add them to all the squares in the template which will form a square or rectangle. If you print it out, you could take a marker and block out the parts you don't want, I suppose..

I'm getting a bit confused. Is this for overlay crochet or for Mosaic crochet? my understanding is that in Mosaic you have your xs on the third row that is the same color but here is every 2?

This is for Overlay Mosaic where you have 2 colors & you switch each row so that all the odd number rows have one color and the even number rows have the other color. I'm not sure what technique you are describing other tha some people do overlay mosaic with 3 colors, but I'd say the majority use the 2 color method like what I'm describing. 😁
