If that's the case, at best his mindset is probably "If there is going to be an Overlord it's best that it's ME cause I can wield and channel this dark power in a way that can benefit everybody, cause no one else can!" Like in a self-martyr kinda prideful arrogance. At worst it's probably, as you said "I have done all this work! All of this belongs to me! I've EARNED it! I suffered for it!! It DESERVES to be MINE!! I AM THE GREATEST OF ALL EVIL!!! ME AND NOBODY ELSE!!!" In a prideful sense of pure entitlement. Similar to what led to the fall of Lucifer, and seeing as how the hero went on to become the lord of all evil, I'd say it's fairly symbolic.

While the build up for this guy was awesome, his fight sucked. All he does is summon easy to kill minions, tornado in a predictable manner, and set up elemental shields in which only specific minions can pass through, and while that last one sounds tough, it really isn't. It doesn't help that he's constantly "talking" to the ex-heroes, he just looks like an idiot telling his imaginary friend he can have another roast beef. Plus, compared to the incredibly difficult fight against Khan, this guy is a complete joke.

Actually, that's not quite correct. Yes, all the heroes you defeat represent mortal sins: gluttony (Melvin), lust (sir William), sloth (Oberon), greed (Goldo), envy (Jewel), wrath (Kahn). So the Wizard who was their leader would represent pride. As for the would-be Overlord, it was never mentioned who he was before he... well, fell. Quite literally.

The gameplay never has you trouncing in and fighting baddies on your own, so why would the final boss be any different? This is a game about utilizing your minions effectively to destroy your enemies, not two "sword-wielding badasses" going at it.

This was so epic ending for the first Overlord game. It was awesome plot turn when the Old Overlord appeared and told the whole story, then the final battle against him with the strikingly good music. I hoped that the Overlord 2 would have had as interesting plot as the first one. Waiting for Overlord 3!

This game series is near and dear to my heart. It is a breath of fresh air compared to all of the, you're this hero who needs to save the world, while I enjoy those games but just being able to be a villain who wants to take over or destroy the world is so much fun. I love the story of the first game and if they had fixed the problems with the game then I believe it could have been one of the greatest games of all time. But some of the voice acting is just plain bad, there are bugs like when the greens jump off of an enemy and get stuck in the walls, the final boss wasn't foreshadowed very well (and in turn, the twist wasn't as impactful), and the Ruborian Desert (Especially the area with the sandworms) was a little too difficult for the few rewards that you got. But my biggest complaint is with the corruption system, I liked it because you got to chose to play the hero or the villain but if you were going for full 100% corruption you had to kill 500 peasants. this wouldn't have been as bad if there were five or six areas with large amounts of peasants but you only had two towns with 25-30 peasants each. So instead of killing everyone in a large amount of towns you were stuck grinding the two towns until you got the 500 peasants. Being the ultimate evil should be challenging but still something that you enjoy doing not spending an hour running back and forth between towns to rack up a kill count that would make James A. Janisse faint. The second game fixed a lot of these problems which improved the game significantly for me.

Anyone else come back to these games with a deep longing and sadness in their hearts? This series deserves more than what it got, i know they'd likely fuck up any new game with the current state of the gaming industry (if fellowship of evil wasn't enough of a hint) as it is. But looking at new games like shadow of war. The idea of what a the series could be now simply makes my heart fly,change a few basic designs,change up Sauron's designs and make him the playable character; type of nemesis system that means slaughtering an entire village migth result in heroes rising up to face you and this could lead to the classic examples of a noble hero falling to your domination or overcoming you and banishing you for a century or a few years where much of your progress is reset but perhaps the hero is murdered by followers or is old and decaying by the time you return,unable to protect all he loves as you take it away (maybe again) Because let's be honest here,Overlord combined with shadow of war with a slightly darker tone,has the makings of a classic where you can easily entertain yourself by making these rivals that might try to foil your plans and so being a bit more plotting based at times. At this point i'm rambling but i ask if anyone of you,who love this series wouldn't drop every cent you've got into this game if it were in released?

Overlord wikia says that this overlord is probably the first overlord (lord gromgard). So the actual first overlord is the black baron, the second is lord gromgard and the third is this one (?)

I like to think that the wizard in Overlord 1 is possessed by Lord Gromgard (The player of Dark Legend), and that they are all actually Gromgards. When you beat Dark Legend, you learn that the Overlord in the first game goes off to be a hero, just like the Baron, who is technically the very first Overlord. Before the events of Overlord 1 begins, the player starts off a hero just like the gromgards did.

not to be one of those annoying buggers, just some helpful advise: make your entire horde green. plant a guard marker RIGHT where you enter the room, then camp there until a green shield comes up. immediatly sick all your greens on HIM (if his shield falls ALL his minions die at once). when you get stuck in the middle, just sweep your minions back to the front door again, and kill them yourself (all minions take a one hit kill to any arcanum weapon).

The new overlord (you) is basically trying to take over the whole land for your own purpose. Hence, the wizard (original overlord) came out of hiding to take everything that you own by killing you. For your second exclamation look up the ending of Overlord Raising Hell and the beginning of Overlord 2.

Just beat this today, and it was amazing! This fight is so epic! I beat it as a Bad-Good Character, with Rose as my mistress. The ending was quite funny. Great game, Awesome job ThatGamesGuy!

I dont know why, but this boss always stood out to me. Not only cause of the twist that you were one of the original heroes who sieged the tower, but also cause of his theme. His whole thing was corrupting the "good" heroes into their more darker, eviler selves. To indulge in their sins and revel in their folly. I think in part it is the kind of villain I would be. ...Ok it also helps that final boss theme is kick ass. I always love bad ass remixes of themes for a final battle.

go to the front of the brewery before the stone bridge, than go to the left walk just right down the bridge continue forward. beat the blokkade up then walk further. there is a small path upwards to a little tower beat up the enemies on the tower and get your price
