Without a doubt: firing in smoke when there is a CV squadron overhead. I think many people don't realize that the CV with its top-down view can see EXACTLY where you are, and if you fire twice they will know exactly where you are going.

Of course, it's one thing to _know_ where they are, and other to be able to _hit_ one. But it can be rather useful if you've got the right planes.

I would add this one tip when going into caps. Back into them if you are not absolutely sure about who/what might be on the other side of the cap. That way, you can quickly escape if need be and you are well positioned to avoid torps.

The 4 rules of dd play as I was taught from a very good WOW dd player (you do these in order) 1) Protect your HP in the early part of the game (don't die early) 2) Spot for your team 3) When practicable (important word), contest caps 4) Do damage

I see so many destroyers bow into caps cluelessly and get destroyed while they are turning out. Also, make sure as a destroyer to know what ships have radar and what range they have. American and such radars are generally 10-8km, but with longer duration. Soviet radars are 12km and generally lie within the 20-30 second range unlike their counterparts which have generally longer radars around 35-40 seconds with the module equipped.

Whats funny is the more radar WG has graciously distributed the less impact it has these days for me......i think destroyers shouldnt be afraid of radar but use it as the enemys crutch, they give up certain things to have radar, it's actually identifying how vulnerable these radar ships are when they have burned that consumable is how modern DD players should adapt....(moskva cant move fast from slow speeds so they are easy to ambush from the side) just like CV planes you can bait the enemy into a "irresistible" opportunity to waste their radar so you now have a window to maneuver into a better position, like getting them to poke out too far from cover so they can try to get a good hit on you at 10-12km as your running away they dont see your friendly satsuma shells mid flight ☠️ lol 😂...the key is TEAMWORK getting a random stranger to commit to firing their guns for your safety is a challenge but its how I handle the new threats these days ....so if your team isnt interested then your not gunna ghost a petrograd or salem in open water, ☹️so you go find something else to do that your team can help you with...staying alive late in the game is crucial to maintaining a lead or counter offensive.

But with Dual CV means your team has two 😯, which means that the CV's control the "tide" so you follow the cv's planes to were there focusing and do what you can 😥......most of the time, and 30 mm BB is what ap alpha is for, but ya gotta hit right spots 🤡💀......its knowing your place in THAT match is what we both agree is important and adjusting your tactics accordingly

And I think other mistake is to active AA fire and the start of the game. Like there is a Lex or a Bearn (Excellent DD killers), adn they dond desactivate their AA fire, and thats a mistake, cuz they know where are you, and the will rush you. Other mistakes is to rush their CVs.

also dont forget when playing DD and you want to be sneaky as much as possible, then after shooting torps, take of priority target dude will feel safer and might do mistake, usualy it works.

Its the cruiser and BB players that need watch this video 5-6 times to get them to understand why destroyers do what "they are supposed" they do and the margin of error is much smaller and Its a tough game in awhen your team ignores you

1. pick a DD 2. insulte the enemy CV Player as........... right at the start of the game 3. expect support 4. expect no radar hydro or the CV spotting you 5. allways stay broadside in your smoke just suggestions🤣

the most common mistake is being in a toxic clan and during clan battles, they tell the dd's to go into the caps and getting killed off within the first 2-3 minutes of the game. AoD did that to me all the time and I was getting sick of it, not actually getting to play because I was dead. the few times I did ignore them, I would end up being the one who remained while listening to them bitch about it.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is torpedoboats shooting right after launching torpedoes On the same note, having gun selected, shooting torps, then switching to guns again

Most common mistake of all players: pressing the battle button 🤣 But seriously, one common DD mistake is just sitting in a contested cap without being able to do anything. This might be a viable tactic later in the game in a close battle but early on think about being more useful, go to another cap or go around the get an angle to throw torps at the enmy sitting in that cap. Or at least go anywhere where you can spot targets for your team.

Not understanding the details about opposing DDs is one I've seen. Torpedo boats opening fire on a gun boat to just get melted or not realizing your concealment isn't as good asvthe enemy DD
