My mom used to do this to our hair. She made her own rollers out of newspaper about as long as the ones you have here and then would wrap them with material and then wrap sections of our hair and we had beautiful curls the next morning. This brought back so many memories. By the way it was the 60’s.

Me too, by my Grannie. I have natural curls anyway but my Grannie made me look like a poodle! Very tight spirals! It's very old fashioned method of curling hair from the beginning of the last century. Loved this video. Thank you

Some tips: Roll the top back and away from the face for a better hairline. Brush the hair as far forward as you can in each section. Don’t tighten the flexi rods as much. Use only 2 sections for a more comfortable sleep.

YesHipolito just came out with the perfect sized velvet rods!!! They don't slip and they stay in the hair and she has 2 whole whole videos on them on how to do them correctly. Also do 2, it's much easier to sleep in, or 3 if you're lounging about the house. Or stack them the "mickey mouse method" if you sleep on your back. The satin bonnet helps lock in the heat of your head setting the curls. Also you need to suuuper extend the hair forward so the back roller is on the top of your hair.

My neighbor Debbie used to use tin cans to set her hair and she even slept with them!!! I asked her one day how she could sleep and she told me that it wasn’t a big deal after while and not too bad!!! I’ve pretty much had a pixie cut so far never could fully understand how she did it!! Ha. Btw, it always turned out beautiful!! 😃

I started do this method about a week ago. This is the only thing have ever been able to sleep in. You really checked out how “yeshipolito” does it. 2 comments 1(I really found more than 2 really doesn’t work for me, you really have to get on top of head. 2( use clips on the back to hold the second one in place. I found using 2 alligator clips really works. I like to brush all up and forward, then clips in opposite directions to catch all the hair. After that you can let your hair go while you roll it up. P.S. I use 1, 1.25” rods in each sock and you really in it the sock. And I used frizz ease dream curls on my mid to my ends. Oh and I leave my bangs out.

I think it was uncomfortable to sleep in coz of the 2 back sections. ppl who said it's comfortable did 2 sections only both going on top of their heads. let us know if you try 2 partitions. Overall, thanks for the review and how it stays on your hair. I think it stays longer on slightly coarser hair. Looks good.

Couple mistakes that are deal breakers! You’re supposed to already have styled your hair before hand! The rollers do not create the curled blowout, they are meant to improve and hold the style you already had. Second: it was super uncomfortable because u put two for the bottom half on either side of your head. Instead do just one so it sits in the center of your head and the sides of your head are free to rest comfortably on the pillow! These two adjustments will totally improve the few negatives you found about this method🤗🫶🏼

Thanks for sharing such a great and extremely inexpensive solution for a diy flex rods for those of us that want to try before buying them (especially since I have a lot of hair and will need a lot of the xl rods and different other sizes for my layer). I also am not sure if I actually will be able to make this work for my hair either and using a blow dryer, xxl round “mixed bristle” barrel brush along with several styling products appears like it might be easier to do and I won’t have to worry about being unable to sleep with all those rods in my hair either! I can just blow dry it and be done with it all! Thank You so Much for the DIY tip, I’m definitely going to check it out!!

2 sections are waaay more comfortable, but make sure you really brush the hair forward so the back rods are on top of your head. What way you have the best sleep. I also don't skip my silk/satin bonnet, except I use a tighter bonnet called a silk sleep turban. It keept everything in place and it looks cuter.

The blow out would have stayed longer even past the evening if you not touch and run your fingers in your hair constantly throughout the day. The oils in your hand weigh down your hair, and just touching changes the shape a little each time

I remember my mom and my aunts sleeping in brush rollers in the 60s (the rollers that look like iron cages). How they ever got to sleep at night is beyond comprehension. On Saturdays, my mother would wash my hair and put those terrible rollers on the top of my head, pin curls on the sides. I absolutely HATED it 😡 I vowed I'd never do that if I had a daughter and I didn't. To this day, I refuse to wear rollers of ANY kind. If I can't style with a blow dryer, curling iron or flat iron, I'll just pull it back with elastics or a clip.

The roll fell out because you didn't tie the ends of the sock together and use the cip you had to secure the tie of socks. And use hair spray or some hair product to help the wave stay.❤💐

I'd just blowdry my hair, roll it up while it's hot, let them stay til your hair cools, et voila! No need to sleep in it. I do the same thing to my hair by blowing it dry and coiling it in a bun on top of my bed until cool. It makes all my layers pop and adds an easy wave with little effort. If you have bangs, styling them is all that's left.

I have several bonnets. Wash them and hang to fully dry before wearing (i never put them in the dryer) and as long as your hair is dry when you wear the bonnet, it will not stain. Every review that the bonnet stained or leaked ink, you can tell they wore it while their hair is wet because the photos show wet pillows. That's not what bonnets are meant for.

See I disagree, but I think it depends on your hair. Heartless curls are the only way my hair will hold a curl. BUT I have to have the hair be damp AND use product (usually mouse distributed evenly). If I use moisture and product the curls will last for 3 days. If I don’t they will fall flat. even a braid overnight will give me lasting wave, but a curling iron - nothing, even with product. Not unless I pin the curls after I curled them for like 4 hours.

every hair style you do is so frustrating to know how it would actually be at end of day. I have never known anyone who played with their hair throughout the day as much as you do - maybe if you just fixed it and let it be for 10 hrs we'd get a true look on how it does for the entire day
@angecham6563
@angecham6563 Жыл бұрын
you do know that everyone's hair is different right? You can't just determine how long a style will last by just taking one person as an example. We all lead different lifestyles as well, so external factors (such as weather) come into play a lot when seeing how long a style will last. Also, hair density and internal health factors can lead to hair which is not as strong and will most likely drop during the day. I could do the same hairstyle on two different days, one where I'm not doing too much (staying at home, doing the groceries, etc) and the other day, if I am at work, or have an occasion to go to. You can try putting some hairspray in your hair as the rollers set ( I would recommend using a light hold spray, lightly spraying a mist over the hair), once you have let them sit for 30 min - 1hr and you take them out, giving them a brush through, and adjusting the style the way that you want, you can always go back and give the hair another quick spray. Also, so what if she plays with her hair? I do that especially if I've just tried a new hairstyle and don't know which way looks best on me. Don't be so negative.

I completely agree about the socks drying out the hair and causing frizz!! And I’ve used a nylon neck gaiter to hold everything in place more firmly when I experimented with more than 2 sections. I started with it already around my neck before wrapping the hair, and then pull it up over the entirety of the rolls and tie it in the back like a trash bag to close. It also keeps the hair around my ears in check and less frizzy.
