I'd go have a nice talk with the neighbors asap. Just explain you bought the land to use, hunting included, and not to come on your land for any reason during hunting season. If they can't keep up with their dog, they need to build a pen to keep it in. Also, use a harness when you are in the stand. I have two friends who have fallen. The reason why your tent broke is because it didn't have an load bearing cross members. I work in the event industry business for the past 10 years. Seen wind and other natural weather events tear up some quality equipment before. No one realizes how heavy that canvas avatually is, especially wet and cold. 😅 recommended getting some pole braces so the weight of the snow doesn't break your tent this time.
@chrisjohnson4343Ай бұрын
My parents use one to park a golf cart year round over in Hayward. So like you they get the snow. First one didn’t make it through the winter. The second one is a snow load rated one. Even with that they do their best to clear the snow off after every snow fall. So far that one has lasted five years.

@NLJFamilyАй бұрын
Mav - You may want to take down that tent during the winter, at least during the snow season. Given how much snow Minnesota can get, it may be difficult even for this tent to make it through the winter without collapsing. I live in New England, and I have to take down my tent each year before it snows. I left one up once, and it collapsed the moment we got a good snowfall. A foot or two of snow can be very heavy, especially once it melts, hardens, and ice forms within the snow. Food for thought at least. Great video as always!
@RogueRippleАй бұрын
Mav, you need to have "no trespassing" signs along the perimeter of your property. That way, everything is legal and on your side. Post signs every 10 feet or so, so nobody has an excuse saying they didn't see them. That's what we had to do, unfortunately. It's sad people don't have respect anymore these days.
@Norton-67Ай бұрын

I like camping in my Honda Element in summer and winter is a little rough Dessel heaters i don't care for. I've tried other heaters usually electric. What i care to do is run the vehicle before bed till it's warm, shut it off use an electric blanket and sleeping bag. To me it's the safest way. Then i go somewhere to charge my batteries. Maybe you can try camping out of a Honda Element sometime. It's 17 outside today. I'm on other Honda Element websites as well. Please be safe and take care. I CARE.

If those poles bend or break again and the canvas is still good you don’t have to buy a whole new tent. You can get all those brackets and then go to Lowe’s and get all the steel pipe cut to size needed. We send up a huge 12x20 awning canopy with those brackets and 1/2 steel pipe. We would take it to the beach every year for camping. It also survived a tropical storm the one year.

I've used those old style boxwood stoves for decades. You need to try to get the stove pipe more vertical and the longer it is, the better the stove will draw air. Also, remove one of the lids on top of the stove surface when cooking. That allows more heat to your cast iron frying pan without allowing more smoke inside.
