For anyone else doing this - I'd totally recommend exactly this ferry trip. Get on board early with your sleeping bag and check out the forward lounges. You'll find foam benches there so no need of a air mattress. The other major advantage is: you start driving / riding at 5am - so its easier (and safer) to get orientated before Jean-Claude starts rushing to work.

You look like you are having a blast. I did the same ferry crossing in October, arriving in Dieppe at 4.00am local time! Ferry tip: There are a couple of quiet lounges on the ferry, you can sleep pretty much all the way over, along with all the others 'in the know'.

Well done making it to France Chloe. I love France. Such nice roads and loads of space. I’ve never ridden it only by car. The best bits - increasingly warmer weather and the quality of fresh produce. Keep it shiny side up my lovely!
