I live on the middle part of sak and ice camp it often. Its intimidating doing it solo being alone for miles. This part of the lake is not popular but I appreciate big water thats not loaded up with resorts, services, and crowding conflicts. Ive always stayed off the main lake due to ice concerns and stay in bays but the last few years the bays have been very low and not attracting much. Hopefully water stays higher this year and the walleye come back into these bays.

That's a great spot for sure. I've had some of my best days on that lake in that neighborhood. If my snowmobile wasn't broke down right now, I'd be camping out there, too. Thanks for letting me live it vicariously today. Great video production!

Fun time camping and fishing! Fun video to watch. Appreciate your close ups of how you bait your hooks, and the gear discussions. Thanks.

It's great to see you camping on ice. There is something special about being out on ice and camping out old school in a tent with some modern technologies that we have these days. Great video, as always, Jason. Keep them coming.

I've always left the tag in them, so they can record future data. I'm not sure how they do it in the Dakota's, but there's usually a website where you can record the length, location, etc...

Yea didn’t think that through very well. Wish I would have just wrote down the tag number or taken a pic. We ate the fish. Sent in the tag info but haven’t got any info back.

Yeah, last thing you want to do is remove that numbered tag. Also, if you look closely that fish had an antennae coming out of it's stomach area. Montana fish and wildlife were likely tracking it for a study.

Is there a reason you don't put the carcasses back into the lake not on top of the ice instead of packing it out to go into a landfill?
@eduffy4937
@eduffy4937 Жыл бұрын
Why bury the most organic thing in a pile of the most inorganic plastic? This is the fastest way to put the remains back into the ecosystem. Plenty of crows, fox, mink, coyotes will dissapear those carcasses completely within a day
@JasonMitchellOutdoors
@JasonMitchellOutdoors Жыл бұрын
In North Dakota, it is illegal to leave fish carcasses in or on the lake. I imagine the law is in effect so that kept fish can be counted.
@spitfire490
@spitfire490 Жыл бұрын
Okay that makes sense! I just figured the best place for them would be right back where they could feed other fish in the lake! Tight lines!

@@spitfire490 dependimg on where im at ill either pop the swim bladder and sink them or leave em for the birds. I NEVER personally put fish in a plastic bag then landfill it for eternity. Laws in some instances are beyond stupid.
