Love the top bunk bed. You know that there are newer first class sleeper train, right? There are quite limited seats so you might wanna book early.

Hi again U 2 ! Interesting ! To me the comparison would be now : where is the airport in Surat plus prices and timetable til Don Muang / Bgk. You certainly saved a night in hotel but "lost" more than half a day ....compared to "one night in Bangkok" ( you know the song?) by plane. Hmmm - many different aspects possible - very personal decision - not easy. If there would have been a romantic classy restaurant for dinner on the train ....I might change my mind ;-) Have fun in Bgk. !

Hey again! All very good points! The airport is closer to the pier and the town than the train station, so if time is of the essence, I can see why that might be the better choice! No classy restaurant on this train as far as we were aware 😅

Excellent service and smooth all the way through! It was easy and uncrowded, but probably because of the thin post-COVID crowds.

You can book through the State Railway of Thailand website (www.railway.co.th/), but sometimes, non-Thais have difficulty completing the transaction. For ease of payment, we booked through 12 Go Asia, which allowed us to pay with our foreign credit cards or PayPal! You can find the link in our description!

No PCR tests required for train travel! They used to require tests for domestic flights for the unvaccinated, but all those restrictions should be clear/void by July 1st.

Since it was overnight, we only enjoyed the views in the morning, but it was quite nice! For the first class AC car, it cost 1500 THB!

What is the price of a ticket from Surat Thani to Bangkoj

A first-class AC sleeper would run you about 1500 THB, a second-class AC sleeper would be about 1000 THB. The cheapest possible ticket is a third-class fan car with seats only for about 250 THB. Hope this helps!
