overnight stocker from the UK here. love the vid., definitely agree with the mind set. i just go in and get paid to listen to music/podcasts while i do borderline meditative work, clock out and not think about it until i clock in next.

Salute to you! Thank you for the comment! Overnight stocking is definitely a hack for quick easy money if you'r strong in both mind and body but I definitely don't want to do this forever. It's not for everyone, but those who do it can use it as a stepping stone. Keep grinding and getting that money! We will soon be where we want to be, just got to keep working hard, love.

I’ve been working for over 4 years in overnight Groceries store. I got hired with the mind of “it just a job for money” and having a lot of trouble during the first month with hard time sleeping and extremely high work charge (cause i work in a big place. Probably as big as a Costco) and yet here I am. 4 years later being promoted to Assistant manager and I like what I’m doing. What you’re saying is true especially for the thought. Other of my guys who work with me that were listening to music the whole shift (10 pm to 6 am) were near the dead stage at the end of the night (don’t know why lol honestly). Anyways great video and advice

Thank you and you’re a great example of how a simple mindset change can change everything, even your position within the company lol, good on ya for climbing up through your hard work for real🔥💯 and yea the job can be tough sometimes but finding mediums and ways to enjoy it and make it as smooth as possible is how you THRIVE. It becomes fun to clock in ‘cause sometimes I go in a talk to friends on discord while working, I listen to my music or a podcast or even stuff I like listening to people talk about like video games or one piece. It’s all about how you make your experience cater to YOU and you can take this job to most other jobs where you alone and can get your work done with no one over your shoulder and pestering you while you work💯 thanks for the insightful comment and keep up the good work🔥

I appreciate that, I bet it’d be a great time 😎 and yea on big truck nights it’s painful to get everything where it needed to be in a timely fashion. One night me and my crew were spotting all the products and taking stuff off of pallets till 2am in the morning💀pain isn’t even the word for that experience but there will always be better and worse days with this sort of job💯 hope you get some more like minded people at your place of employment and good luck with your work going forward❤️

I don't know hoe I found your video. I have not worked retail in over 30 years. My take away is this. Prep. By getting a place for empty cardboard and a bag or box for plastic. 1. Downstack your aisle. Product all goes in each shelving section. 2. Put your product out. 3. Pull product forward for each section as you move down the aisle. 4. If your store is closed at night, don't be afraid to make one mess and clean it up at the end. Save time and productivity where you can.

Are the boxes already on the aisles when you get to work or do you have to go in the back and grab everything? Or do you do a check on the aisles and then go back and grab what you need to stock?

Hardest part is waking up I do 10pm - 7am and trust me that 9 o clock make me rethink everyday I would say it’s a challenge for me is due to the fact that I go to trade school so the mornings falls on the same day I go to school which is also in the morning and I wouldn’t say it’s too bad going to school cause I don’t be tired in the mornings and also trade school is chill I usually nap, but getting off and then going to sleep then waking up at 9 is the hardest part my body just won’t move and get up I’m always late every single day but my managers love me so they don’t even care, but the 9pm is the hardest out the day. Also I learned my lesson never go to sleep on break worse decision I made in fact, I went home that day early because my body gave up when I clock back in from break, overall most days be chill they just short handed and we usually do a little more in what I seen in the videos usually run about 15-20 pallets each night.

I have to make quotas of 42 crates per hour while having things look nice. Any tips?
@dracoslayer537
@dracoslayer537 29 күн бұрын
Spot the crates first, meaning put them in there respective places before you start to work, so you’re not running up and down the aisle. Next you want to stack boxes and anything non glass related to a decent height so you’re not bending down every minute, you’re back will thank you way down the line. Don’t go to fast because you will end up burning out, go at a smooth pace so you reach that flow state and you’re not really thinking just doing. If you’re listening to music put on a playlist, educational video, podcast etc and DON’T touch your phone. Changing songs and videos every minute is a big waste of time and it’ll hinder your progress. Try and keep your work area clean, as much as this is a physical job it’s a mental job too so things seem easier when you’re being productive and keeping good track of your plastic and cardboard that you need to dispose of later. Drink lots of water and eat well before you come in. Lastly just try to have fun, especially if you’re listening to music or podcasts etc, you’ll work better and faster when you are just flowing through the day/night and you’re enjoying the process. Hope these tips help and good luck on your job 🤞🏾❤️‍🔥

@dracoslayer537

Great question! The way it works out at my warehouse is usually the manager (if they are there) is supposed to handle the rest of the things that don’t get done but to be honest you SHOULD be finishing your work if it’s a reasonable amount. Probably ask them how much is expected to be done and if you can’t finish everything one trick is to simply make everything look neat and organized so they don’t have anything to say just in case. I say when you first clock in to get to work immediately whether that is spotting the product in it’s designated sections or if everything is already where it’s supposed to be just get to work right away. This way you can plan how your night is going to go. Each night also depends on how big the truck is each time so that’s something to keep in mind. Always come ON TIME as well because like I just previously stated, you don’t know how big each truck is so you want to maximize how much time you have to work until you clock out! Hope this helps and just comment again if you got anymore questions fam! You got this and again congrats on the new position 💯🔥

My coaches and team leads would consider this way to be too slow. They expect you to stock 5 pallets in an hour.
@dracoslayer537
@dracoslayer537 3 ай бұрын
I’m not going to lie, that is an INSANE expectation, what’s humanly possible is for that amount of work to be done between multiple people. If this job is paying you $40 an hour best believe It’ll be worth it to pack out 5 pallets in a hour depending on how big the pallets are but that seems kind of ludicrous given how big each individual pallet can get even on a relatively small truck night. The pallets I usually get are decently sized but then again I have 7+ hours to do my aisles and the organize/block. I pray no one has to be under the expectation to pack out 5 pallets in a hour for pay that is below $40 a hour especially if you’re handling aisles like household, pet etc, it’s way past the borderline of realistic for what’s humanly possible.

How do regular grocery stores work in terms of inventory? For us, we have a Front of House (FOH) and a Back of House (BOH) system. Let's say 24 units come in, and 12 fit in the lane (1 home). We then destock 12 units to a BOH bin, like D.100.RACK10.C01. On the handheld device, we have a replenishment tool that guides us in the store on where to go and restock the items. I assume for you guys, you guys get exactly what they need for the most part, and if any overstock is left, they just put it on pallets and general storage carts. The overstock will get stocked throughout the day. Is that correct?
@dracoslayer537
@dracoslayer537 6 ай бұрын
Yes we usually get pallets every other night with the general items we need to put on shelves then if we have anything that doesn’t go up (overstock) we place them on pallets and boats and the people that come in during the morning work them if need be!

My store “the big store” expects a box a minute once you clock in. I know your doing a video and talking but in my store your pace is bit slow and unrealistic. My boss wants a box a minute which is also unrealistic request when you consider staging ,scanning product if necessary for location, actual stocking of item , over stock breaking down boxes and clean up.
