In this video I decide to take out the Artic Survivor kit to see how well it does in a overnight survival situation. I found out it was from the 1980s but I was still able to use some items to make a shelter and survive the night. I also tried some of the food to see how well it held up. It was a great adventure and it was also cool to see the older items in this tin.

That was great! I appreciate fancy gear, especially for longer camping trips, but sometimes it’s good for the mind, body and spirit to get out there with just the bare minimum. I would be heading for a lumberjack breakfast and a pot of coffee as soon as I broke camp though!

Good review of an old survival tin. I would recommend making your own kit. Put in the things you would want, just try to go with the guidelines of less than eight ounces, and able to fit into a large pocket on a parka or fanny pack. Of course you can go heavier and larger, but the goal would be to keep it small enough that you would not leave it behind. Just like with any EDC item, you want as much function as you can get with the least weight.

That kit would have been awesome if you used it 35 years ago.. Pretty good selection of tools in there along with a nice selection of food items. Those little plastic bags that held the soup cubes did not do well standing up to the test of time. Was worried that your emergency blanket would have degraded too. Those saws suck even when they're new. The saw on your Leatherman is 100x better. Good overnighter, fun to watch but probably not a blast for you. Thanks for enduring this and taking us along. Loved watching. 12:20 - very John McClane of you lol

Jeez! I'd hate to he stuck in the Arctic with that little can if false hopes! Thanks for reviewing it! Looks like the kind of gimmicky survival kit I dreamed of having when I was about 9 or 10, in 1987! That duck tape could have been used to patch the hole in the bag, as well as putting tabs on the corner of the emergency blanket and then attached the safety pins through that. That was a smart move making the rock toggle!
