My leftovers from my pallet, after i finished a painting, i often put on a totally white one to help me make the new one. It gives me a start of creativity.....

Well done Cody really enjoyed that I’m a hobbyist and quite a few canvasses that I got frustrated with or not happy with the finished piece so great tutorial video 🖼️👨‍🎨

You remind me of my father who loved landscape painting. He would do a great job on junk canvas'...Good show! 😊😊😊

Good one Cody, most artists I know, including moi, paint over the "older" canvas because what's on it "cannot suck enough", and you hope for a better result painting the second time. LOL ;D. Looks like you had a good one going before your move. Yes Sedona, been doing many small studies from photos, and few plein airs from my trips there. Difficult sometimes to get that foreground, for nice lead ins, on the spot, since many views are the "postcard" ones like you did here from the town! And of course, who wants to paint That horrid town, itself, Yuck!! I take the back roads that the Prius's can't go on, or go like the Pink Jeep does, even, for some good stuff "off the beaten path". Bonus: few folks go there to bother you while you paint outdoors, I've found. Cheers from beautiful Oro Valley, AZ. : )

Are you sure that the new layers of oil paint will adhere permanently to the old oil painting surface and not crack or start peeling off after let`s say 10 more years?

Positive. I've been painting in Oils for over 30 years now, and never have I had a problem with this. One caveat, I use artist grade materials, can't speak to student grade permanance. Note: don't paint over any type of Varnish, as this will cause adhesion issues for sure. But paint over paint, or paint over liquin...no problem at all.

Is this an oil painting? Was there much surface texture to cover? Did you scrape or sand any of it off?
@codydelong1

No, I just let the texture of the old painting show through the new one. That doesn't always work if there's a lot of texture in the sky for example, but often it all works out fine.
