Awesome vudeo. Im going to be using a flash outside and in or near golden hour. So it's good to have videos showing how HSS works. I dont have an ND filter yet, but I'm looking to get one soon.

As usual great presentation and information! A question: ISO: why 150 not 100 or lower?

So most cameras have a “base iso” which is the iso that the camera looks the best. A common misconception is the lowest iso the better, which isn’t the case at all. Most canons look better at 200 than they do at 100. My Sony a7rIV for example has a base iso of 150. Also anything under 100 is actually a digital ISO and will cause banding in a photo if you use a strobe/flash. I’ve had it happen before and didn’t know why until I dug into it.

Thank you! This was so helpful. You don't often see videos like this where they're using ocf in full day sun with no modifier. I shoot a lot of sessions in full noon day harsh light. Was thinking of getting a strobe for these occassions. Do you think a 400 watt strobe is enough or would 600 watts be better? Just thinking about portability and whether or not it's necessary to carry around the 600 or if the 400 would do the trick.

It’s the Polar Pro Peter McKinnon Mist Variable ND. The old one not the new one. Hope this helps

It looks SO much better with the sun behind her. I'm not sure why she was photographed with all the sun hitting the front of her body. There were too many hot spots. Good video and tech tips.

Completely agree with you. Sometimes though you don't have the option, in this instance I did not want the walk path and rocks and everything in the background, more the beach and "nothingness". at least for those shots, then once we moved to the rock area, I agree I was more pleased as well!
