Overreaction Monday: Is the Texas Longhorns football team ready to shake TCU and Gary Patterson?

Texas is loaded with potential, but we need to see them play in dominant fashion ON THE ROAD. Their 3 good games were at DKR... I want to see them throttle TCU....the Frogs aren't good, and the Horns should beat them handily. The reality is that the records against one another the past 9 years mean exactly NOTHING

On offense I think the emergence of Worthy will allow Wittington to really shine as well, and a receiving crew that has Joshua Moore has a THRID option will be pretty damn salty

This Coach has learned something from Arkansas, lets see what Arkansas does to Georgia, Sark is trying to build a Football team. Texas just might be better than anybody thought. Arkansas might be very good. Top 5 good.

@Jason Foster I think Card is good but Casey should’ve started this season in retrospect because Card has only been an exclusive starter for 2 weeks before Arkansas simply not enough practice with the 1’s. I would predict a Georgia win but I think Arkansas is good enough to upset Georgia

Not being in the top 25 suggests that press and coaches in general skeptical due to history of UT inconsistency through a season. Sark's challenge is keeping consistently high levels of play from this team, something his predecessors have been able to accomplish. UT has enough talent to get to the Conference Championship, it is execution that is their Achille's Heel.

Individual stars PLUS coaches that are developing them and schemes to make use of them. What has me maybe the most excited, is the realization is that the team should be getting better throughout the season, instead of worse relative to other teams. I will be fascinated this weekend to see how effective our offense is against TCU. What a great truth serum test. But I'm definitely starting to believe and right now I do think we will win by at least 10 over TCU. I think one factor is that these players have been through 3 coaching staffs in 3 years (Herman changing many coaches his last year). So, it is almost an exponential effect for the players to buy in, get comfortable, and then become natural within a system. I think that is happening now, especially for units where working together is essential like the offensive line. I also loved the comment from Sark about OL need to be individually "nasty" with their own man. It's not just scheme and assignments, but also dominating the man in front of you. OL improvement will be measured this coming week, and I think they have definitely improved a lot.

Texas not only has the best trio of skilled players. Texas has the best depth. What teams are going to say, "Thank God, Roschon Johnson is in. Thank God, Keilan Robinson is in. Thank God, Johnathon Brooks is in." All those guys are legitimate threats. Jordan Whittington and Joshua Moore can pop off at any minute. The TEs haven't even reached their best level of play yet. I think this is the best coaching staff we've had since Mack Brown was the head coach. The ceiling is high with this team. I'm hopeful that this team can consistently perform at a high level.

Texas looks improved from last two games and that winning culture needs to be established through the season. I recognize that the defense was quite unimpressive ; especially the corners allowing easy scoring and that’s a big concern that needs to addressed. This team needs a ton of swagger to impose their will on any team they face and that’s the culture Sak needs to instill in the players.

I asked Colt in my dream...if we get there. He said, no, im sprry man, I cant do it. Which perplexed me. Then I watched with a pale white face as he got the stinger...then with a green face as I watched the rest of the game...and Mack lose confidence and try to switch our entire philosophy to sabans in 1 offseason. (jokes on mack, saban switched to ours 6 years later.) Now, this wasnt the only time Ive had a dream lile that. Every year, before the season...sam would tell me no. This year...Casey said, "I got you..." Its an amazing coincidence. I concur. I cant explain it. And when Card started...I chocked it up to just a dream. Guys, STOP with the connection of this team to Herman/Strong UT teams! Sark is going to be gracious to UT history and competitors, but he is on his own program and so far ahead of all the rest of you who are continuing to try and drag Herman and Strong tied around his legs. His program and preparation and development are on a different level than ANYTHING you are used to. Arkansas is going to be a huge silver lining by the end of this year, not a negative. Talk to you again in a couple of games when you start to actually understand what is happening here.

Zach Evans is not thought highly of by Texas fans because of off field issues and TCU just isn't that good. He averaged 7.7 as a freshman and is averaging 7.9 this year. Travis Etienne averaged 7.2 as Freshman, 8.1 as a Sophomore, and 7.8 as a Junior. Travis Etienne is way better than Breece Hall and he's considered the first best nationally but with comparable numbers no one thinks of Zach Evans as better than what 5th in the Big 12, maybe 4th. People think Travis Etienne is being gone is having a bigger impact than Trevor Lawrence. No one thinks involve Zach Evans more in the passing game, give him 6-8 more carries and TCU will have National Championship aspirations.

Casey needs to work on throwing the deep ball with less arc. His ball stays in the air too long. Probably why Sark tried Hudson first. Also, it looked like Sark pulled Hudson after the delay of game penalty and then almost getting another?

Casey's deep ball is a work in progress. The scary thing is how effective he has been without even connecting on them yet. If anything, I am looking at the upside of how dominant he can be once those deep balls start landing. Scary to think!

The offense looked great against a tradionally poor defensive team. The defense really sucked. They gave up 35 points to a weak team. This team still has a long way to go.

It's the Big 12 you're not stopping these offenses. They gave up 35 and still won by 35, had 2 sacks, 2 picks, countless pressures, and 6 tackles for loss but other than that yeah the defense sucked.
