Hello! I'm making this sweater and I just noticed that, since the decrease rows are less for the back panel, won't the total stitch count for the shoulders be different than the front panel's? So how do you sew these if they do have a different stitch count? Great work, thanks to your tutorial my sweater is coming out great!
@CherilynQ
@CherilynQ Ай бұрын
Hi! Honestly, I don't remember if I decreased for the back panel cuz it's been some time. But if I did, then the front and back should have the same stitch number. Less decrease rows, but also started with less stitches to work for each should, so eventually the stitch number for front and back do meet up, if that makes sense 🥰

@CherilynQ

Hi! Thank you! You can leave more stitch at the center before you decrease for the neckline. The back panel doesn't need the neckline so it's just a rectangle. but if you need the neck hole to be bigger, you can make it exactly the same as the front panel. Some sweaters are like that.

@CherilynQ
@CherilynQ Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I do remember the 2 decrease sides are a bit different but it's by design. It's to ensure the neckline shaping is symmetrical. I imagine if we use the same decrease stitch on both sides, one side would have a slope with a different angle, if that makes sense.

Hi! I would suggest leaving the same number of stitches at the center for the neck hole if you like my neckline size, but if that seems too small for you, you can leave another 2 inches of stitches at the center. If you want a lower neckline, you'll need to start the decrease a bit earlier. Hope this helps.

I decreased for 7 rows on front panel and did extra 4 rows on back panel then decreased for 3 rows as instructed but of course the panels didn't match up becausevi decreased less in the back row. Should i just decrease extra rows (7 like the front) so panels match? Thank you for your help 😊
@CherilynQ
@CherilynQ 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for asking 😊 it sounds like the row count of the two panels should match up. I would double check the row count and make it work in any way I can. This is because the back panel should reach higher then the front, so you can't really make them exactly the same, otherwise the back of the neck will feel uncomfortable

@CherilynQ
@CherilynQ 2 жыл бұрын
That's a really good question! Sorry I couldn't find where exactly you are referring to in the video but to answer your question, it would be because the stitches that we worked in are different in height, some taller, some shorter. If you wanna work 1 st over them, those incomplete sts have to be different height as well. A simpler example: if row 1 is 1 hdc + 1 dc, how would you compensate for the height difference in row 2? by working 1 dc in the hdc and 1 hdc in the dc. The standard dc is probably worked over 2 hdcs and the hdc/dc decrease is probably over a dc + a hdc If you could give me the time stamps, I could be more specific, but anyway I hope this makes sense, and you're very welcome!

For the back panel,do we just do the same exact thing we did for the front? The width is still about 27 inches but I'm really anxious about how it will turn out.
@CherilynQ
@CherilynQ Жыл бұрын
The back panel doesn't need the neckline shaping but the rest is the same as the front; I'd need more info to give advice on hook size but if you are happy with the tension, you should stick to it; 27' width is what you can see with mine; If you think it's too big/wide, you can rip a few ribbing rows to make it narrower.

Hi, I don't know what yarn you are using but if your yarn is thinner, your work will be shorter with the same number of sts. Do you want your sweater to be 20 or 27 inches wide? cuz it totally depends on you! If you want it to be the same size as mine, then do 27 inches, don't worry about the st number. Although if I'm remembering it right, the st count here needs to be an even number to work the moss stitch. Oh, and your hook size: go with whatever your yarn calls for 😊

@CherilynQ

The center 2 are Stitches 50 and 51. Yours are the 38th and 39th stitch. 100 is an even number. An odd number like 3, 99 or 101 would have 1 center stitch.

Start with a shorter ribbing and make the front & back pieces smaller in width and height. Chain less for the sleeves but do the same or more rows. You can keep the neckline the same.

Hi! 2 hdcs on the ends sounds right. If the edge is a little loose, you can make the hdcs tighter (tighter tension or smaller hook)

Hello 👋 I want to make this sweater but I didn't hear you say what size you're making.... I need to make a 3X.... What size hook should I use?
@CherilynQ
@CherilynQ 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you! I think this can fit someone who wears L. I didn't refer to a size chart, I just went with the measurements I like, so I couldn't say its exact size. You can use any hook size. You can make a 3X by adjusting st number and row count to the front&back panels and also to the sleeves with whatever hook size your yarn calls for. I remember the foundation chain number has a requirement but other than that, you can adjust panel length and width pretty easily. You can look up a size chart or find a sweater the person you're making this for wears and use its measurements as a reference. Like if it says "18 inches sleeve length for 3X", that's the sleeve panel row count, so just work the rows until it measures roughly 18 inches. This is how I make all my clothes anyway. I'm not sure I'm clear enough though, so if you have more questions, please feel free to follow up! 🥰
