I'm a novice crocheter, but I love your patterns! I've made a granny square blanket, a few scarves for gifts and even a simple hat. I have quite a bit of worsted weight yarn (but I love the yarn you are using). Do you think this scarf with sleeves will work with the heavier yarn? And would you recommend using a larger hook? Thanks in advance for your help.
@hanjancrochet35534 ай бұрын
There are a few things to consider here. If you know how to do half double crochet and understand about the back loops, front loops and 3rd loop, then the actual construction will be easy enough for you. In terms of switching the yarn, you would need to try a gauge swatch and see how the fabric feels. You will want to use a larger hook, otherwise the fabric will be too stiff. But if you use a thicker yarn, you're scarf is going to be bigger, so you're going to need to amend the number of stitches and rows to make it fit. If all of this makes sense, then I say go for it! 🙂
@thinkpositive5504 ай бұрын
@@hanjancrochet3553Thanks so much, yes that's a lot to consider. But I already have so much yarn, I was hoping to put it to use without spending more money. I'm going to give it a try and if it doesn't fit me, I can give it to a person it will fit 😅. Thanks again!!

Great pattern. I Watched a video recently that omitted the single turning chain, and instead lengthened first sc of each row. Would this work on this project?
@hanjancrochet35534 ай бұрын
I would give it a go for a couple of rows and see what it looks like. As long as you are pulling it up to the height of the new row, I'm sure it will work fine 🙂

I love both of the patterns that you created, however I am absolutely in love with the pink version of this crochet pattern. Can you please let me know what kind of yarn you used when you crocheted your pink scarf, and if I wanted to use a worsted weight yarn would I crochet the scarf one size up, because the yarn is a little thicker. Thank you so much. I can’t wait to start this beautiful pattern. Have a wonderful day
@Scorpio_Love_114 ай бұрын
For a heavier weight/ thicker yarn the larger the finished item will be as well as using a larger size hook so for if for example you used a worsted weight yarn and a 5 mm hook or larger (which is normally what is recommended for worsted weight yarn) if you made say a medium size it would turn out much larger than if you used a DK #3 yarn with a 4.50 mm so you would actually need to size down but you should actually do a guage swatch any time you change yarn and/or hook size to ensure your finished item will fit correctly hope this helps you

@@Scorpio_Love_11 Thank you so much. I have trouble with my hands I’m only able to work with a # 4 worsted weight yarn or a bulky #5. I love this pattern so much I think that it is Stunning and I’d like to wear it for Christmas. Thank you again for your quick response. I’m going to purchase the pattern today. I have a beautiful light pink alpaca mixed yarn in my stash that I’m going to use. Have a wonderful day.
@hanjancrochet35534 ай бұрын
Thank you! The pink one is made from a discontinued yarn, but both were in light or sport weight yarn! If you want to use a thicker yarn, it may well change the drape of the fabric, but it's going to be nice and warm at least. Try a gauge swatch with your yarn and see how many stitches you get in 4in/10cm. You can work out how many stitches you'll need to make it the length and width you want. This is a great pattern that you can easily customise, so you should be able to get it to fit you in the thicker yarn! 🙂

@hanjancrochet35533 ай бұрын
Oh how exciting! You can seam them in whichever way you prefer, whether it's a crocheted or sewn seam. The only thing is to be consistent, so if you use both loops to start continue using both loops throughout.

@hanjancrochet35532 ай бұрын
Yes, that's right. You should ideally always make your swatch larger than the size you need, as the edge stitches and first few rows are not always indicative of the actual size, once you get going. Hope that makes sense! 🙂

I got some questions.I want to Crochet this for my sister and I already bought your pattern. Can I make the 2nd version with a normal chain instead of fhdc?? And do you sc in the stitches of the main body after connecting the sleeves after turning around or do you just sc along the 47 stitches only, skipping the 2 slipstitches at the end?
@hanjancrochet35533 ай бұрын
Hi, you can definitely do a normal chain instead of fhdc, just do a row of hdc after you've done the chain. And yes you skip the slip stitches and carry on going back up the 47 stitches. You should always have 47 sts each row for that part. Hope that helps 🙂
