Most think that the FoV is all about being able to see your mirrors. It's not that simple though. It's also about SCALE. The correct setup is the one that allows you to play in a cockpit that's as close to 1:1 scale to the real one. The only setup that can do this is the triple screen one. The only setup superior to that is VR, which is by far the best option for racing and airplane simulation.

Recently went 32inch triples from 5+ years running VR only. Added bezelfree kit and i really dont regret going triples. For me the added fov ( i was mostly on a reverb g2) helping me giving me more confidence in close battles i just now know better where the opponent is.

For racing I use triple 50inch QLED panels, all mounted inside a blacked out 'booth', not as immersive as VR, but very close and much better comfort/real FOV. Still often use VR for short sessions.

Just to confirm, the Samsung SUW you feature first is 49” and I believe that’s the non OLED version. It looks to have a 1000R curvature and it’s white on the back, whereas the oled version has an 1800R curvature and is silver.
@OverTake_gg24 күн бұрын
Valid point, I actually have to check our invoice from a year ago, but I am pretty sure its the higher spec of the 49" with 1800R and OLED. But let me double check! -Michel
@skillsetmaximum24 күн бұрын
Aaron is 💯 % correct. What you’re showing is a Samsung, 49” QHD. Like the previous person mentioned the OLED version is 1800 curvature along with a completely different (silver) bezel. Also the OLED version has a shiny screen finish. Terrific video nonetheless!

I run a 60" 100Hz UHD HDR TV on my sim rig which is pressed right up against my wheelbase. It allows me to run a realistic FOV (remember a 55" 16:9 display has the same hFOV as a 49" super-ultrawide) and I also like the additional vertical FOV you get with a TV vs an ultra/super ultrawide monitor. As soon as I finish my home renovations though I'll be going for a triple 32" 1440P setup.
@Gizfreek24 күн бұрын
I still use a single 16:9 monitor for sim racing which is not recommended for a reason but I recently found out about AITrack and Opentrack, a software that can enable pretty solid headtracking with only a decent webcam. It's a great way to help with the limitations of a single monitor when you lack space or budget to get at least a 21:9 or enhance the immersion even with a larger screen (I simply guess, as I said, only a 16:9 monitor here). It's especially great for formula racing and checking the mirrors if you don't want virtual ones but it takes a while to get used to, for me at least a better solution than VR which has its ups but sadly also a lot of downsides.

21:9 is the best option. VA screens got problem with angles and brightness, but got curvature that can get some extra angles. Plenty of cheap IPS options are also there.. 144hz. PS section should mention VR :))
@EikeSky24 күн бұрын
Man I keep preaching this. Triples are the best, however some games are a pain to set up. 21:9 is the absolute goat of single screen setups.

I used to have triples years ago. The. Got out of sim racing. Recently jumped back in and have been rocking the Alienware 21:9 screen I ditched my triples for. Moved up close to my wheel, it is almost as good as my triples where. And not much harder to drive than a 2560x1440 screen. Best compromise in my opinion.

Since I started VR, I first started VR with a Quest 2, Amazing for the price to be honest, But if you is using a Quest 2, It would be better with a high end PC, But since I tried the Quest 3, I am hooked, I can't go back to my TV, I have got an Acer 27 inch curved gaming monitor, But they are 300 pounds a pop, So it would of cost me 600 pounds plus I don't think the 12gb 3060 would be any good at running triples, I have read that the 3060 isn't very good running triple screens, But the Quest 3 is off the hook, VR is making me a much better driver, I am learning tracks faster, When using an open wheeler, You can see everything, Allowing your brain to observe and learn a lot faster, Another thing with VR I am no longer spinning cars out, My consistency is bang on, All I need now is load cell pedals, I have a T300 GT RS, Its says it is a T500 on games like Euro Truck 2, But when I do get the thrust master loadcell pedal set, I can see me being faster again, lol, But VR is by far the best way to do Sim Racing, I have a PCVR charging cable, Charges the Quest 3 while I use it, I worked out I should be able to get 11-12 hours of solid sim racing, I was on it for 3 hours last light and used 25% battery power, Point a fan on you, Put a defogger on the Quest, I got a Hibloks one, Works a treat, I no longer sweat out crazy like I did when I first got the Quest 3, I think a software update sorted any heat issues from the headset or made it a lot better, lol, Honestly sim racing using a Quest 3 is almost like a perfect match, I am hoping that a sim racing title creates a VR headset optimized for sim racing, Tecno Pocket Go just created this controller with a Ryzen 9 inside that connects to a pair of glasses that either becomes the screen or VR, And Cyberpunk looked bad ass on it, Check it out, Tecno Pocket Go, But yeah I wish AMS 2 would work with oculus or another VR headset company to create a VR headset for Sim racing, Make it have a bigger FOV, lol, Yeah for me VR is the game changer, After doing AMS 2 with the Quest 3, Ain't no going back, To my TV screen, Even if it is a 4K 48 inch, You cannot get closer or more realistic than VR, And Sim racing is a simulator after all, It is far better to be inside the actual car anyways, lol, I am blown a way how clear everything is in the Quest 3, The arms of the driver, Inside the car, Detail is actually pretty impressive, And I am shocked to see the VR number still low, And people are still using TV screens, But then I was lucky to get my Quest 3, I got it refurbished from Amazon, And it looks brand new, No marks at all on it, I saved 130 pounds, There is no way I would of been able to get the a brand new Quest 3, But again the prices now have dropped loads, 450 pounds, I think come Xmas time you will be able to get a Quest 3 for 400, Bargain if you can get a Quest 3 for 400, Not only that I had 3 months worth of free games, There is some bad ass games on the meta store as well, So yeah for me I will stick with VR, I am starting to sim race far better than I was around 2 months ago, And it is purely because of VR, I only does around 4 hours a night as well, I am not far behind pro drivers, I am doing the Nürburgring 24hr in 8.39 now, A few weeks ago it was 8.50s, So yeah personally I would tell people to get a Quest 3, A PCVR charging cable, A Fan, The defogger, And happy days, The closest to sim racing you will get while chilling in your home, Amazing, lol....

@@THESHADOW97139 Yeah curved is gay its such a gimmick trying to claim that they are better for eyestrain. Their explanation makes no sense at all, "follows the natural curve of the eye." Which is a lie the eye moves completely, theyre claiming that only the eye ball moves to the corner with the eye staying stationary. Studies have proven they do not reduce eye strain.
